I thought that was a reference to the Vedic myth that the world is on a giant turtles back.
I quite like the Discworld series from Terry Pratchett, excellent books.
Also just recently read "The long Earth" series which was written together with Steven Baxter, another alternate view on the world.
Then there's the variants on hollow earth, with an internal sun, "glass" firmament ceiling and too much silliness to even try to remember. I mean, I enjoy a good sci-fi fantasy multi-verse story as much as the next nerd, but there's gotta be a limit. My favorite 35 seconds from the past 20yrs of CGI is the closing of original MIB - puts a whole new spin on Carl Sagan's "little blue marble"

Yes, that's it. Too bad this photo of a flat earth lunar eclipse only captured one of them, but it did get the elephants, so . Hey, I found it on the internet - it must be real, right?
That's a perfect shadow of Terry's Discworld, except the moon is wrong...

So Atlas is a turtle?
[called Atlas because 'e never wears an 'at!]

No. The elephants carry the world. Perhaps Atlas can be an acronym?
"All This Lumbering Around (with a) Shitload (on our backs)"
The turtle is carrying the elephants, so yeah, it's effin' out of this world ginormous^10.

Sounds like less gravity could be a good thing, at least for turtles
well, according to some (most?) flerfers gravity isn't real, so as long as that MF large one we see here is denser than all layers above, everything fits their model
... So you're saying we're just too stupid to understand the gravity of the situation (ref. Galu), and that's why we're not all floating away?
Makes sense.
Have I referred to Dunning Kruger effect yet in this thread? I've met enough humans in my lifetime to realize that we are predominantly far stupider than we'd like to think. Even at the rate of .001%, that still gives us tens of thousands of enlightened minds at this particular juncture in time - too bad so few of them are in positions to actually do any good.

Sorry but you got it wrong.
Either the picture is fake or was heavily Photoshopped, everybody knows this time of the year the Turtle swims right to left
