It is unlikely that with such a large distance between the conductors, the humidity of the cotton as in the air will have any significance.

Where do you find 28-30 AWG single strand silver wire nowadays from a reliable source? I found copper from Farnell:

and this local place I have never delt with:
RS PRO Single Core 0.25mm diameter Copper Wire, 1100m Long | RS Components

And then some DIY shop - I wouldn't know for sure:
