Converting a DAC

SAA7350 + TDA1547 is what became known as DAC7 and is a fairly ordinary performer, majoring in blandness, IMHO.

Just use it as is and put your energy into something better eg TDA1541A

or PCM63 for the more patrician

could this be right behind the button and display area?

The important one that you will need to find will most likely be on the main board....with a lead from the display/control panel connected to it.

It has already been suggested that one possibility is to exclude the TDA1547...and use the SAA7350 as the DAC.

Then you would just have a fairly ordinary player majoring in ordinariness.

It hasn't got SAA2003, closest to that in jnumbers is SAA2001, also with SAA20011, SAA20031 SAA20041 SAA20051 PC74HC4046AT a Mitsubishi M51581 and a 'Japan 41464AJ-08'

The M51581 is the digital input.

Unless it is on a separate board and you feel up to making a new input board.

well it is on a separate board, with all those SAA chips I mentioned. But I was thinking I'd just link the two boards and make new regulating circuits for the 5V and 12V and leave it at that.
