Zappa was a perfect example of blues fusion himself and was actually one heck of a blues guitarist.

Zappa has been one of my favorite pure guitar players, and early ZZ Top is fantastic! I can't listen to the synth crap that they did on the Eliminator album, and on. I love all blues music, there would be no contemporary blues if it weren’t for the original stuff so it’s all on topic as far as I’m concerned and as long as we can relate the connections of older styles and techniques to the newer stuff it’s all good...... that pretty much covers all of it!

Gov't Mule is a great Blues-Rock trio. It features Warren Haynes who has released solo albums and produced other artists' work including "Soul Insight", the first album by The Markus King Band.

I used to go to Warren Haynes Christmas show in Asheville every year for about 20yrs until we moved down here in ‘12 .....a lot of big talent, it would sell out pretty dang fast.
