Consider the Elon Musk Mars Fantasy

Harsh. I know, for all it's ills I live in a better world than my parents or grandparents.

Always thought one of the few constants across the world and in history was that parents wanted a better life for their children than they'd had.
I’m thinking about the broad brush of history. Young men are sent off to war by old men. My post WWII generation had it easy, the two previous ones not so much and this generation is not as well off as mine.

The Dyson sphere has many problems with gravity.

Many people think of a Dyson sphere as a solid shell, with living space on the inside facing upwards to the star.

Dyson's original idea was a swarm, not a shell, containing enough solar collectors around the star to absorb the starlight.

The swarm would be visible at redder wavelengths as it radiates away waste heat after utilising the star's energy.

In his original article, "Search for Artificial Stellar Sources of Infrared Radiation", Freeman Dyson suggested searching for such emissions.

Elements of the swarm can be used to grow produce 🥔🥗🥬

Following his 1960 article, Dyson wrote: "A solid shell or ring surrounding a star is mechanically impossible. The form of ‘biosphere’ which I envisaged consists of a loose collection or swarm of objects traveling on independent orbits around the star."

The simplest form of Dyson sphere might begin as a ring of solar power collectors built to satisfy the escalating energy needs of a technological civilization.

A civilization might continue to add Dyson rings to the space around its star, creating a relatively simple, but incredibly powerful, Dyson sphere.

Here's interesting research on giving Mars a magnetic field.

The conclusion seems to be that it's only possible after fusion reactors have been invented.
I prefer option B:
Drill a deep hole, dump a crapload of iron rich ore from the asteroid belt into that deep hole, when the iron core is complete dump lots of ice comets in suitable spots on the surface. There is not a lot of resistance in space, so it should be possible to fling the matter where it needs to go, get some AI and robots on it ASAP before Mr Musk manages to send people there.
