Re: Are we dead?

Hello group:

This thread /topic has been quiet for far too long. I have tried to contact Chris and recieved no response. I am starting to think this project is dead. Does anyone have the time or inclination to pick up the ball.

Thoughts or comments?

I've given it up for dead. Sucks, R-Theta group buy went no problem.

First of all, let me apologize for my long absence. I won't go into detail as to what happened, but basically my email account and wallet were hacked/stolen, and I've had a hell of a time getting both back. IF YOU ARE TRYING TO EMAIL ME, PLEASE TRY AGAIN! I have a new email address as of today, I should get my old one back soon. Since I could no longer receive email notifications, this group buy has remained dormant. But no longer!

I am in the final process of ordering heat sinks from Conrad, but things are going to be different. There have been a number of people that have been unsure of how many heat sinks they would like, and some people have backed out, while others have joined in. For simplicity, I have decided on only offering one option for heat sinks. All will be milled, drilled, and tapped. Here's a sketch:

heatsink-1.jpg

The milled strip is now larger to accommodate flat head screws without hanging over the lip of the top piece. I will also be ordering button socket cap screws to use with the heat sinks. Here are the screws that will be used to secure the top and bottom covers: SCREWS
And here are the larger 6mm bolts that will secure the front and back faces to the heat sinks: BOLTS

Screws and bolts will both be BLACK.

I have also found a reasonable source for perforated aluminum tops. Here: EBAY
I don't think I'm going to organize a group buy for these top pieces, or for bottom pieces. I thought about it, but it just complicates things for me further. Ordering from the ebay link is pretty cheap (~$15), so it wouldn't be a bad idea to individually order.

Because of the size and weight of all these heat sinks, I have decided to limit this group buy. The max I can handle is going to be 150 heat sinks total. I will receive a final invoice from Conrad within the next few days. Once that is done, the I will operate on a first come first served policy. Wish I could handle more, but it’s just too much for me to handle anything larger that, as these are heavy heat sinks.

COST: Each heat sink is going to run $49.50 milled, drilled, tapped, and shipped to Seattle harbor. I decided on going through Atlas Sea freight, as it is cheaper and only takes about 30 days to arrive from Melbourne.

The M4 screws for the top and bottom covers will be $2.50 for 20, which is enough for a pair of heat sinks. The M6 bolts for the front and back are $1.60 for eight, once again enough for a pair of heat sinks. So grand total for all bolts per pair of heat sinks will be $4.10. Remember, these bolts are BLACK.

SHIPPING: Shipping to US addresses is going to be $17 per pair, $24 for four, $32 for six, or $38 for eight. Weight is about 12 lbs per pair. This is via Parcel post, as priority mail adds about $10-$15 depending on how weight. Shipping is close approximates; depending on your location it will vary. I'll refund you if I charge significantly more, and send a payment request if it's significantly less.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: please email me for a shipping quote, or check the USPS web page for the appropriate weight shipped from Seattle, WA 98105. Add $3 for packing supplies, and that’s your shipping cost.

PAYMENT: Payment can be made through Paypal, check, or money order. Paypal fees apply, which are 2.9% + $.30. Paypal can be sent to my Paypal email, which is cwujek@gmail.com. I would really prefer Paypal payments, if you must send a check/money order email me at my Paypal email and we will work it out. Please provide an payment breakdown in your Paypal payment, see below for example.

EXAMPLE PAYMENT BREAKDOWN

Pair of milled, drilled, and tapped heat sinks: $99
All necessary bolts: $4.10
Shipping to US address: $17
Total: $120.10
Paypal fee of 2.9% + $.30= $3.78
GRAND TOTAL: $123.88

Once 150 heat sinks have been paid for, no more will be sold! I'm ready to start taking orders, once 150 are confirmed, I'll place the order through Conrad. So start your Paypal accounts, there are 150 slots open for this group buy, I'll post every time 25 slots close.

Ok, already about 20 heat sinks have been paid for. Yes, I am ready to accept payment! Conrad has fixed their broken casting for this heat sinks, and is ready for this order.

For those who want to send a check within the next few days, please send check to:

Chris Wujek
4736 20th Ave NE
Seattle, WA 98105

Don't send a check to this address after the 25th though, as I will be moving at the end of the month. You MUST inform me if you intend to send a check, so I can reserve your heat sinks for you.

International buyers, please help me out! Shipping via USPS is only available via USPS international priority shipping. Shipping to Canada came out to $56 for a pair! What service is cheaper?

I've replied to all emails/payments that I have received. Feel free to email me if any questions still arise.

I doubt there is anything cheaper, certainly not Fedex or UPS, because those guys just tack on big fees on this side of the border. DHL might be cheaper, they charge much lower customs broker fees than the bigger couriers.

hi Chris/cwujek:

As you have promised me before. Can I pick up in Seattle area? if yes, I can send you a check and I will deduce the shipping cost from total. Please let me know ASAP.

Yep, local pickup is great.

A few people have requested blank heat sinks. I have reconsidered my stance on only allowing fully milled/drilled/tapped heat sinks, so if you would like a blank one email me and we can work something out. After waiting so long it is not fair to cut anyone out now, which is why my 150 heat sink limit is probably the next thing to fall..... BTW, 56 heat sinks have been paid for so far.

I will be out of town until Sunday night, and will NOT have access to email. So please, don't panic if you don't hear from me until Sunday night. I will check my email tomorrow morning, but after that I will be unavailable.

Chris

All emails have been replied to, although payments seem to have slowed substantially. 60 heat sinks paid for, and a few more have been spoken for, but have not paid. We need to get at least past 100 heat sinks before an order can be placed.
