Conrad Heatsinks gone ?

Are you seriously still ranting about how cheap your indian heatsinks are in a conrad heatsinks thread? You know anyone who has made the decision to buy conrad has made the decision on a quality basis; due to them having a well deserved reputation for high quality heatsinks. I left this thread almost a month ago and you were going on and on about the cheap indian product incessantly even though nobody asked about it, with only your say so wrt the quality of said heatsinks. Our shipping is expensive on an international scale, as is our product and labor; no doubt about that, but we do have a reputation for high quality goods. I cant say the same for India i'm afraid.

Now you are saying we should pay more attention to you because you have studied mechanical engineering ... please ...

Now it also appears we have to lie to any Indian company to get the to ship internationally ... great recommendations ...

Touche....
Enjoy the expensive sound.

Like China, Indians are also now not interested in small orders, too much paper work and finicky customers. So we ask them their credentials.

Question still is the need to ship metal halfway round the world.
And it can be substituted quite easily.

But then some people will say great if I tell them the product cost $50, and make a face if I get it for $15.

I used to make 100,000 pieces annually of a medical product, some European said trial order, 5000 pieces, you must get CE mark, which means I need a legally responsible representative in Europe for three years.

We said for $15,000 we are not interested. The representative would cost us more than that, apart from the CE mark fees.
They were surprised, so cheeky of us undeveloped people...they acted as if they were doing us a big favor.

The world has changed a lot, but that becomes a political topic.

Like somebody said here, let him charter a jet to fetch it, it is his money.

I can understand all the POV of the parties here. CE mark for heatsinks is a joke, and the bureacratic requirement for legally representation in Europe is precisely which keeps their industry in business against overseas, Asian products. Examine Tesla's issues with its new Berlin factory.

We live in a global market, yet there are lots of of rules and regs to protect local industry. Only the EU can ensure this; try living in Australia where labour costs and shipping are the highest in the world, and our government is quite happy to lose all our industry, losing thousands of jobs to unemployment.

India makes some good products but their competitor is China and their shipping and marketing is far more aggressive. But politics ensures that the playing field is changing constantly. Your day will come.......

My initial intervention was because there was no response from Conrad for two months.
At least the Indians replied faster.
Anyway, it is 5 kilos, give or take, no big deal.

Also, nobody pointed at sources in Europe, which means that there is no need for heat sinks at the factory level in Europe.
Bad scene.

You need to compare like-to-like with similar dimensions.

The heatsink in question is cast, black power coated and has a machined mounting surface.

It obviously can be substituted, even a big lump of any metal might be sufficient.

It looks extruded, which gives better density than sand or gravity casting.
Pressure die casting is a better option, but it gives a very high output, thousands a day. And the tools are expensive.
Properly extruded, the mounting surface requires only a light - 150 grit abrasive - cut. The tool and extruder machine are both important.
Powder coating, or anodizing are both fairly standard finishes.

I had been inside the Banco plant here, having had to give after sales service for my LED floods. The voltage was too high, we had words.
Ube extruders from Japan, very good machinery. They make thousands of tons of sections every month, for the building and electronic industries mostly, they also have a sister plant for aluminum car radiators.

Just for comparison, the entire population of Australia is about 26 million people, we have that many in the Delhi NCR region, including adjoining towns.
So the demand for construction related material is much more, also for other goods.
I live in an area with a population of about 4.1 million people, New Zealand has a population of about 5.1 million .

Banco extrudes 30,000 tons of metal a year, been around since 1967. The person in charge has a degree from Imperial College, London.

Part of the reason we don't pay attention to casual customers.

lol, the gibberish continues indeed. 8 posts since mine and another 6 of them are yours.

yep, I used to live in a city of nearly 5 million ... Sydney. I now live in a Town with less population (about 600 people) than my building had in Sydney. But that is highly irrelevant.

I live in Australia, I dont have your shipping problems. If I dont want to pay the domestic shipping; if I recall I could just walk into the local Jaycar and buy conrad heatsinks off the shelf for less than your high quality Indian product. I could also take a chinese takeaway container and point a fan at it.

What is your point?

Dont answer that ...

Back on the matter of buying heatsinks, it's worth noting that Altronics (and their downstreams like aztronics here in Adelaide) sell a few of the common Conrad models. Often in-stock too, and for about the same price or even less than Conrad would retail you one because of course they turn over hundreds.

For example, I bought one of these the other week and I am pretty sure it's an MF30-75.
