Oh well, I guess I'll pop a cold one and watch a hockey game in the meantime. :drink:

Ahhhhh - da Nashville kids got a little lucky last night - even tho it seems that the Canucks have a little problem counting up to five when wearing gloves that cover their fingers. 😀

I think the Pred's made a good effort - but it's pretty easy to see who the more refined and experienced team is. But that was the case with the NBA play off between #1 seed San Antonio vs. #8 seed Memphis - and the Grizzles played their butts off and now go to the next level. Still - lot's of things to be learned when playing at this level - and usually experience wins out in the end. 😉

Try out time. 🙂

The lid is on with just weather stripping for the time being.

A most interesting listen and some things I discovered:

1. The dispersion characteristics are second to none. The angle of the drivers is just right so there is no noticeable drop in the highs as you move around. No comb filtering.
2. There is no extra perceived stereo separation due to the drivers being toed out. When listening straight on, it seems like a point source. The stereo imaging is actually much better if you are off centre.
3. The woofer is not at all dominant like it was in the last, boomy box.
4. The XO is just right. I played around beforehand and was able to keep it simple.

A 1.5 mfd cap on the tweeter
A 220 mfd cap and 0.1 mH choke on the mids

More testing after work but so far so good. Strange though, every project has it's oops moments. None so far. Fingers crossed.

A question from the back: What're the drivers?

Looks good, are you going to do anything to protect the drivers when its out and about?
It might seem like an odd idea, but try reversing the phase of one of the tweeters. Then do the mids on that side too. You might end up with a midbass suckout depending on your crossover point, but it looks easily adjustable...
My old ghetto blaster did something like this, it had 2 midbasses on the front, 2 mid-tweeters on top. Press a button and the mid-tweeters went out of phase, sounded like the whole thing was 6' wide.

I will make a grill for the front. There is already a grill for the woofer just not installed.

Not a strange idea, I've done it before too but I would be worried with the drivers being so close together and the relatively low HP on the mids. I don't mind the sound now even without the separation.
