And it is still not true. It is NOT available and it WOULD retail for a lot more as does the 30mm
version.

I do not know any details of the motor on the Kharma units (neither do you) but the cone and chasis is totally different from those offered by Accuton on the open market.

End of discussion.

just to let you know... the Grande Exquiste uses 2 30 mm Diamond tweeters... not 25 mm...

But what i meant is that in general i prefer Kharma speakers over comparable Avolon types. Like Carlos i listened to Avalons for years, but in the end i bought a pair of Kharma Ceramique 1 and most people who heard them at my place agree they are superior to Eidolons, even more when you look at the price tags (of course i am lucky the Kharma's are built soms 60 km from my place 😀 )
But that's OT if the thread is about what brand is easier to clone and you can forget about equalizing or improving in terms of sound quality. In both respects cloning an Avalon is the best way to go, imho.

Yes, I know that. But since you wrote that Madisound had it for $2600 I assumed you ment the smaller tweeter.. the D30 costs about $4000 and Madisound doesn´t have it in their catalog you see. Therefore the "Grande" slipped my mind and I thought you were talking about the Exquiste Reference and all the non-mtm Exquisites uses the 25mm version which is not available and therfore makes them impossible to clone.

Also since the Grand use a 12mm tweeter that one is also impossible to clone.

If anyone wants to clone a diamond equipped speaker they need to look at Eidolon, Coltrane, Tidal or maybe some Lumen White´s or Venture design.

Now I suggest we do as Variac told us to. 🙂

Another idea, go audition the Selah Audio reference line array,
I'm sure it will be difficult to make it so but it should give you peace of mind in that respect. Auditioning the McIntosh and having a bad experience only gives the line array a red mark,
maybe audition a well designed array in a proper room.

Audition the Genesis 1.1 and Dali megaline.

lost a link to one of Alon’s designs, I think it may have been the WALLS but I could be mistaken about that, it was from a few years back 2001?. The design had about a 7 foot tall stack of MDF cutouts, that’s approximately 84 sheets, with an extensive amount of routing.

Kharma Grande Exquiste

Max SPL > 118dB... not bad for store bought.

Weight > ~900 pounds. :smash:

I have pics of the Alon WALLS :devilr:

I still think the AR2 design {DIY member} will give these speakers a run for the money and perhaps beat them if you do a few mods.

* Replace the woofer with dual Lambda TD15.
* Use three 2kw pro amps and a digital crossover/eq.
* Design tilt / rotate mech for the mid and tweeter.

Driver cost is about $4k ..

I'd do this right now but my plans are bigger than those. :hot: :devilr: :smash:

I like these speakers.

They look like my favorite chocalates. You know, the ones with the kitty cats on the box.

edit: I had to say something. I read the whole thread; it was a massive 6 pages. That big acomplishment for me 😀
