Class D Audio, Who are these guys?

Well I'm scratching my head now. I hooked it up to the front channels on my outlaw audio 990 and at full volume it was probably only about 40db. The same amp I have connected to my preamp outs on my sound card and it would easily reach 100 db.


But the outlaw hasn't been configured yet so I'm hoping the problem is there.

I have use tas5615 and tas5630 make our product,place some photo on here.there are some error for this chip,please attention carefully to use this chip.

input impedence

Hi to all,
I'm new in this good forum. I'm italian and my english is very bad.
I hope you will understand me.
I have a classdaudio amp, 125 watt x 2 8 ohm. I bot the complete kit from classdaudio.com.
I am very happy with this amp but there was a problem.
I don't have a preamp so I use only a passive preamp with 10K pot.
Now it's enough good, but before I had a 50k pot and was not good.
I'm sure that the problem is that this amp have a very very low input impedence. 🙁
I asked many time to Tom about input impedence value but he don't answered me. 🙁
I hope that here he will answer me, or someone can help me.
I'd like to know this data beacause I think that I can encrease than sound quality.

Hello, Just wanted to post my experience with classdaudio and Tom. I bought the 125x2@8ohms kit and it was received very quickly. I wanted to fire it up so bad that I half *** wired it up:smash:. Poof, smoke the whole nine yards. I was very angry at myself. I contacted Tom and let him know what I had done and that I would have to buy another board. Tom said send in the blown amp and he would fix it. Wow! Long story short Tom sent a brand new amp to me! Just got it mounted in a chassis and wired up correctly and could not be happier with the performance. Very nice sounding amp!
This was my first amp project. I know it is no where near what some of you have done ,but it was a big deal for me. I could not have done it without Tom at classd and all of the knowledge from you folks here on diy. Thanks everyone and especially Tom at classdaudio.🙂
 
What's the specs on the SMPS?

I've got it up and running...

I made a simple box to mount everything in, installed a toggle switch so I can choose between two sources and wired in a 25K ladder attenuator. I'm not sure if this is the best value for the attenuator, I have been unable to find out what the input impedance is on the amp. The 25k pot is acting a little strangely, almost like balance control. One channel is lower than the other until I turn it up quite a bit and then they equal out(more or less). Tracking shouldn't be an issue and I have the pot wired according to the manufacturer's instructions so I am not sure exactly what is going on. Even considering the attenuator problem initial impressions are favorable. I think I am going to bring my Yaqin ms12b up from my basement system and try it with the class d amp later today. I will bypass the 25k volume pot so I can get a better idea of what this amp should sound like.

I finished assembling my amp (here is a picture)…

I will be using this to power a trio of subwoofers, using a DCX2496 to provide filters, phasing and level control. The DCX is designed to operate ~14 db above the usual levels of consumer electronics, and produces the best sound quality and dynamic range when the input signal is kept relatively high (from the variable sub output of my receiver). At maximum output, the signal from the DCX would be too high for these amps (nearly 10V). Of course I would never run it that high, but it seems like it would be a good idea to add some attenuators or pots at the inputs on the amps to provide some flexibility in setting the levels. Someone told me that good quality pots should do fine for sub-only use, as opposed to stepped attenuators, which are fairly pricey. Does anybody here have some recommendations on what to use for that application.

It's a Hammond 2U, 13 x 19" aluminum one (RMCV190313BK1). I was going to order something custom from Front Panel or Modu, but decided it would be too expensive. Drilling (and filing square in some cases) the holes turned out to be pretty easy and I substituted black oxide flat head screws for the stock (ugly) zinc plated ones.

Scott... We're having an amp shootout here between xmas and new years. I best let others describe the differences.
Mark... I sure would like to get one of our IR based amps in this amp shootout, but of course, I can't be there. Can we ship one out to you to put in the competition, like a 30 day trial?
