will be funny when we change of EV because the main OS of the car will be non upgradable too ! 😛
But they will. Expect constant updates. And to see a continued growth of things like the Android subset Google has prepped for cars, first out in the Polestar 2, then both of the Volvo versions of the same and now the V60. And some other maker has taken it up. I expect we will see a variety of Car OSs evolve or die and we will have a few competitors. The Google one mentioned, Apple is doing one, Volkswagon is working with GM, upstarts like DriveOS coming down from the highEnd. It will be a wild west for a while with some real dogs and a few winners.
EVs are more like computers with wheels and engines than cars with electric motors.

I got one in the other Day, and I couldn't believe my eyes.I have 2 MacPros none with as much RAM as yours, one running XP the other 10.6. PowerMac is runnign OS10.4.
2 MacBook Pros, the most used one on 10.15, one a couple older (and is used for Sketcghup 7).
A macMini in the music system, and at least a few other macines tha still work including one of the Flower Power iMacs and a Cube. And my original (only the case is original) souped up Mac128 (16MHz 6020 and 4MB RAM).

It's Liquid cooled MAC - I bought this one just for the case and the Active heatsinks of it. But in this case was the Liquid cooled version, so I got the case.. more than enough, will give a nice amplifier.. BTW I do not sell any of them. Just making them for fun..
@Charles Darwin, software isn't a real big Problem, the problem is that if one uses these MAC really to the edge, then some of the Models, have tendency to break. The Champion in this league is MACBOOK PRO late 2011 with Intel I7 Chip and AMD Graphic chip. I have read numbers of more than 100'000 Units where the Graphic Chip had failed after 2 years.. And I for one have walked this stony road with my MACBOOK PRO late 2011 5 times,.
The same thing had happen earlier days with HP DV6 similar thing where Graphic chip got to hot and then lost contact to PCB or better say Logic Board..
Sorry for these not too sharp pics..
Guys it's sunday on this side of the World..
Enjoy it..
Greetings, Chris

Liquid cooled MAC
Those weren’t around long.
Old eMacs have a set of 35mm Foster FR, and some funky curved heatsinks (fin side). The “turbine on the back can be removed and used as a grill for 8” or less bass driver.

ENR is for ; other Non renewable energy.
In the world, 80% of electricity is coming from non renewable source.
1/3 of the energy made for making electricity is the heat dissipation to make it (water cooling, vapor, direct heat towards the environment...)
biogas and wastes is only 2.3% while all the thermic combustion (fuel, gaz, trees, coal) is more than 60% worldwide...
Your pie chart is from 2016. It's 2021 and we are in the initial stages of an energy disruption which nearly always follow an S curve large driven by
economics.
As Solar, Wind and various storage technologies become cheaper, their adoption is increased, as such older technologies become progressively more expensive as their usage is reduced.
The cost of a budget 6.6kW rooftop solar system is now as low as au$3k and it will keep getting cheaper. 5 years ago very few saw that coming.

when will highways be replaced with electrified rails fed from solar power distributed along the route ? we know humans will stop driving their own vehicles soon, we’re bad at it, causes lots of death, injuries and inefficient traffic flow. Once it’s automated every highway may as well become a kind of railway system in which you enter an on-ramp in your private vehicle with a requested exit point and your car will bill your credit card gets billed a monthly ‘license fee’ to pay for it all. They’ll figure a way to have vehicles to chamge lanes as makes sense and traffic flow will be managed by AI.

It's a feeling, not a proof. Please show me better earlier pies. I spent just two s on Google to find it to show the gross tendancy of made electricity worldwide. I don't think elec is just about individual houses in a particular very sunny country as the one you are living in. You have both luck to be in a sunny country (well not for the skin) and near cheap suppliers and short distance from Asia.
Wind is a very bad idea and is being given up in many places because of both the TCO and further pollution of the helix winds when they are dismantled. However it's a good money for real estates guys...

That's a good one 🙂 ... indeed we are all in the same train !😀
when will highways be replaced with electrified rails
When will intercontinential air travel replaced by “trains” running on maglev rails running in a near vacuum with the tunnel a chord from one city/place to the next city/place. One can use low friction and gravity to significantly reduce the energy to get the car from one end to the other.

Never. Though they made a film about it (1935). Transatlantic Tunnel (1935) - IMDb
It has one of my favorite scenes of all time where the proponents "torture" potential investors by making them listen to classical music (IIRC Beethoven).
EDIT - Dave are you really serious on this stuff? Hyperloop is drug addled nonsense, do you realize how deep a straight tunnel would go from NY to London?

Thanx for the reference.
My reference is from a SciFi book i read. One of the ones by a guy with good scientific background.
Imagine a 2m D tunnel that runs as a chord from say Vancouver to Seattle. The 1st half is down, the last half up, with low friction from MagLev and partial vacuum, it will tale little energy to coast it into the stop. Cars that seat 4 (or cargo) connect together as needed and take the trip.
You’d want to keep the tunnels inside the crust i would expect, to be able to manage the pressure and heat. It won’t be possible until we have fusion. I imagine a big plasma laser melting what is in front, a system of pumping out the magma and forming it into useful materials, and a follow up module lining the walls with some sort of SuperCrete.
Pie in the sky now, on the same order of difficulty as the space elevator.
HyperLoop is just Elon Musk’s marketing term for the new kind of subway he envisions. At the moment at least a bit of a joke, on par with launching his modified Lotus into space.

Well we know about his car in space he saw the Canadian movie "Heavy Metal" 1981, first scene, it was of course an anime, a 1956 'Vete iirc !
The tracks of that movie btw contains very good materials, as an original Don Felder's 🙂... and the song almost sounds like a forgotten song from Pink Flyod 😎
I think the better future would be coming from the computers, 3D meeting groups to avoid to travel at the opposite of the world for nothing : commercial lunchs, etc. There is many situation business travels are non essentials... just an old habit. Travelling goods are less polluting than a family going on a beach at the opposite of the world, so no need of fastness. Btw there is no charm anymore to go fast everywhere... a good boat with huge winds will make the things tastier. Oh you have only 3 weeks, doesn't matter, 7 billions of people travelling is unluckily not safe for pollution and all sort of diseases ! It's not like if we should have inconsequent pleasures if others pay it with their, job, home, life... The question is, if you do so, how to balance the bill you create for others. Money is a bad answer, tech can not solve all. Reducing the energy cunsumption and acting local with in mind worldwide shared fraternity should help a little. Sorry for the political, but the new guy in USA is becoming a worldwilde example, and seen from abroad, I have the smile again.

We have certainly seen a forced move to teleMeeting, a lot of business travel, and commuting will likely not come back.

The rooftop solar was (obviously) an example to illustrate the downward cost trend of a technology. The salient point being it is not a linear trend that so many predictions are based on.
WRT 2016, draw a 'S' curve and put 2016 near the start. 2021 is beginning to ramp up, by 2025 that curve should be ramping up steeply. As stated, it's
hard to predict when the curve will flatten due to newer emerging technologies which are currently at lab stage, We may in fact see a disruption
of a disruption.

Yes, there is possibility that wind may be a transitory technology but I think it will likely just morph into more useable and efficient form factors.
As far as parts of the world with less light, we are getting better at shifting a lot of power very long distances with HVDC technology. Here is one example
EuroAfrica Interconnector - Wikipedia
500kV DC / 1700km / 2GW.
That's a lot of energy..😎

Scott, Hyperloop may have been a micro-dose-moment. 😀

I'm just watching a cool TV about thermal cooling in Alhambra. with 45°C outside they could have 25°C inside cause thermal cooling tower... I read also things on catch wind towers in the Emirates countries which are tech from the late Middle-Age related to that european area -for timing purpose-
Class A is not the most demanding source at home, devices to make cooling are elctricity trap from the fridge to the air cooling. I'm fascinated also by the thermal well aka canadian well as regulated heat from the soil... hard to do in industry and towers though.

Class A will always be there
Class A was never gone...
There are some they would like that there is no class a... but that this will stay a dream.. at least for the time coming..
I don't know exacly how long back * may in the thirthies to fifties*, there was Smart man who delveloped that..
I build this before but had always to fight with lots of distortion, because of the reverse current of the HIGH SPEED DIODE and low quality Transistors, this was 30 years ago..
Present time simulating this amplifier again, with much less distortion and more output..
With rail Voltage +- 20 volts its almost 12 volts RMS @8 Ohms.. and draws only 1.5 to 2.2 Ampere Idle, this can be adjusted. So max would be 44Watts IdleCurrent..
The circuit I show here is only driver and output stage as remember it from 3 decades ago..
BTW that amp I buld that time back still works.. The one I build that time back was running on Vrail +- 48 Volts.
The new Version will be ready in one or two months time..*at least I hope so*
I really think that in the future there someone will come up with a COLD CLASS A, which is using not more Current than a good AB..

I am wondering why they don’t extract excess heat from the oceans? (here, people are required to install heat exchangers, and those things are working on really slight temperature-differences… so why not get those petawatts of excess heat)
We will see lots of use of borrowing heat from the earth to extract energy, big now here is geothermal to heat the house.

Yes.
But isn’t geothermal energy a form of energy that is supposed to be _in_ the earth, much like carbon energy, and isn’t the thermal surplus a result (or the result) of the misuse of this carbon energy? … I mean wouldn‘t the extraction of the „global warming extra temperature“ … well, sorta neutralize it ?
