Christmas - What will you do this Xmas?

Went to my favorite record store in town, bought a used Nakamichi cassette deck for my son and snuck in a couple used LPs for myself. 🙂

My son really likes cassette tapes. He listens to them in the 1986 Mercedes Benz 560SEL. Loves tube amplifiers for his guitar and audio, all my old LPs.

In the old days (1970s-1980s) when I was young, I used to say- get drunk, get laid, get stoned all at the same time. Those days have been over for a long time. Christmas eve, went to church, had a couple of cookies and hot tea, kissed my wife on the forehead and went to bed about 12:30. Late for me.

I am relaxing, after having cooked an English breakfast for my kids and my girlfriend. After giving thoughts to my late wife. After calling my parents. And after serving freshly ground coffee with cream and some Panatone.
Later I will cook Christmas dinner, this year I will prepare a ham. Then afterwards I will serve Christmas (plum) pudding with home made brandy butter. A bottle of port will be opened with some cheese. (And a note to call my doctor about my unhealthy lifestyle 🫣)

I give thoughts to those suffering because all around them people fight, where there is despair, where people find reasons to cause so much hurt and I wish and hope that one day we will learn to do better.

I now have my Khorns hooked up and bi amped to my ht system, watched Ferris Bueller last night. Had to crack open my Chinese JLH69 to find the ground loop and install a ground loop breaker. The ground loop was in reality quite large, included were the ground shield of an HDMI cable from ht amplifier to projector and with sensitive speakers the hummmmmmmmmm was impressive!

Have a good one folks.

Did Swedish Christmas on the eve as usual.
Family over for that.
We were all on good form so very convivial and fun.
Christmas Day is chill day.
Reflected on the passing of my dad.
We walked round the village wishing many a Happy Christmas to passers by.
Watched a soppy movie with wife - gotta treat her right🙂, then this evening phase aligned my new steeper tweeter X/Os again to make sure I'd done it right, a bit rushed 2 days ago. A little tweak here and there.
I've got more testing to do with X/O points but I'm pretty happy with things.

Another family gathering tomorrow for boxing day lunch.
Pretty full English Christmas dinner for that one..

I had a 1987 MB560SEL and put about 120,000 miles on it, then I sold it to the gardener. This car went like rocket from 60 to 120mph! I bought a 1987 MB420SEL from another guy in Palm Beach for $6,800. He had fixed up the AC so it worked like a champ. Me and my sons put another 130,000 miles on the car.

Had a great Christmas with two sets of family/ Grand-daughter sang at the kids mass then dinner at their house, a couple of Manhattans and "A Christmas Story". Christmas day I made pancakes and bacon for the grandkids breakfast, then opened presents. Travelled up to Westchester County for dinner with my nephew and his family, his wife made manicotti and a prime rib!

'Bout all we did was cook; I made the beef stew and a couple of cabbage dishes; the visiting collegiate made roasted cauliflower and my wife made eggplant with garlic, after I handled the steaming. Also managed to get a bread loaf done; brown sugar, orange juice, cranberry, blueberry and walnuts. Took forever to get it to rise, even when set within the table top Frankenoven at 75 deg F (which its external controller can do)

We decided to forgo all the gifts and decos this year; indoor and out. In the recent past, we'd movie ourselves even opening mock gifts in front of a decorated tree, but that one fell this year with the no-tree. Had a couple beers last night, nothing today. I actually turned on the Stereo in the bedroom here briefly; had to boot up Daphile as it was completely off. I always have to pull the USB to the I2S converter, to get it to get on the network through the laptop's wireless card, but voila; it works!

"Have yourself a merry little Christmas" - What Diana Krall just said!

Had a quiet dinner with friends. We skyped with friends and family in Florida, Toronto, Philadelphia, and London (England).

Every year there are fewer people around the table. Nobody said anything but I know we were all thinking about who wasn't going to be sitting at the table next year.

We're all still weary from the illness, death, and funeral of one of our beloved friends just a few weeks ago. Sadly, very few words were spoken at dinner. I remember when the table was crowded. Now we could remove a leaf and there would still be plenty of seating room.

Well this thread took a turn. While we're on the subject, it comforts me to think my parents live on through me. I'd often heard this when I was younger and thought it was trite. Then a few years back I was faced with making a tough decision and my parents popped into my head and I thought of what they would say about my decision. I thought "Oh, I get it."

@lineup Glöm inte Kalle Anka kl 15 på Julafton, Merry Christmas lucky Lycksele bo! :D
ps. Living so far up in Sweden where the day length is very short, 4 hours in your place I think, I would have escaped to a sunny place, even here in southern Finland barely 6 hours is too short, but it helps a lot when the first snow arrives and brighten everything up.

Well guys.
I was expecting someone would build amplifier in Xmas.
Maybe will come someone later who will spending Xmas with doing electronics ... 😀
I sent two small PCB designs to JLCPCB last night. Tomorrow, we feed and entertain the grandkids and watch them tear into their presents. Then we will go to a Christmas Eve service at their church. Wednesday, we go to Sherri's 87 year old father's house for a feeding frenzy and more present exchanges with the extended family. Thursday......I'll be working on another PCB layout that breaks the mold. It's an audio amp with NO tubes!

Normal Christmas eve of homemade pizzas and watching Die Hard (the best Christmas movie...ever!). Christmas day, going to be working in the shop and at the electronics bench. Had years and years of family and big dinners, nice to just chill, now.

Crazy, I was just having this debate with friends, Is Die Hard considered a Christmas movie? I'm with you Dan, Heck yeah!!

Cooking tonight in preparation for Eve family feast. Meat sauce, baked ziti, mashed potatoes stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella and chicken cutlets, etc...
Good to see you Brianco 😊.
