check layout CS8416 and 8xTDA1543

Howdy

I need some layout checking for the CS8416 (hardware mode) and 8xTDA1543. 2 inputs toslink or spdif. Found some similar layouts on the net but they differ a little. I tried to make my own and at the same time understand how it works.

But I have some questions left.

I gonna use 2 seperated trafos for VA and VD/VL. In the datasheet it says that the VDgnd and VAgnd should be connected, is it necessary with two trafos?

Which pin to which gnd? vdgnd,vagnd,vlgnd?

TX: output should it be gnd or pullup ?
TXSEL0,1 pullup or down? or just VL or gnd?
RXSEL0,1 how to config to use RXP0 or RXP1 (toslink/spdif)

I thinks thats all,
Thanks

best regards

3rd time i write now because the attachment was to big.. arh

Put a capacitor between VCC/GND across your optical receiver, if all you have is the L then the input probably won't work.

If you've forgotten it and already ordered the board, fortunately this is something easy to bodge on.

I haven't looked at anything else.

I'll give you one hint: you need to connect all grounds together underneath the CS8416.

Other than that, every question you just asked is covered in the CS8416 datasheet. Read the thing, and don't expect this forum to do your work for you.

Hello!

Sorry for kidnapping your theme but I have built board with these same chips and bumped into a problem. I built DAC from this page CS8416 + TDA1543 and the only thing I get on the output is beep sound. I've tried to select different inputs, manually reset the circuit and also tried with different TDA1543. I'm using only one TDA1543 for now.

Any ideas?

Regards Aleš

I picked up alot info from that page and Im trying to figure out the rxsel0, rxsel1 pins, and the datasheet isnt much of help.

mravlcax:
Tried to config so you got i2s data output?
Because he says he made a mistake at first, but changed it to i2s. Then it worled.

@Thazar
He did the other way around. First he had I2S format and then he had to changed it because he has TDA1543A chips. I also have the same problem as you do how to configure these rxsel1 and rxsel0 pins. Nothing much is mentioned in datasheet.

One solution.

RXSEL1/RXSEL0
0/0 = RXP0 active
0/1 = RXP1 active
1/0 = RXP2 active
1/1 = RXP3 active

RXSEL1 = L, RXSEL0 = L ==> RXP0 active
RXSEL1 = L, RXSEL0 = H ==> RXP1 active
RXSEL1 = H, RXSEL0 = L ==> RXP2 active
RXSEL1 = H, RXSEL0 = H ==> RXP3 active

H=high connect to Vcc 5v
L=Low connect to Gnd

Thank you for this info it helped me a lot. But now new problem appeared, on the output I have a lot of hum. When I turn up the volume it gets even worse. On TDA1543 I have supply voltage 4.5V could this be a problem?

Do you get any music on the output yet?

My solder Iron just died so Im stuck with alot of half-done project, incl DAC, almost finished. =(

Yes I have music on output with a crackling noise. I'll try to raise the voltage on TDA1543 maybe it will help.

I'll report on my progress.

Any progress?

Did you changed the Rload to 2.2k if you using only one tda1543.

Im will be up and running soon with my DAC. I only got the grounding issue left. Im using 3 traf´s and I have no clue how to arange the grounding.

Hey.

Finished my DAC.
And it´s not working =(

It can be alot of things. But I suspect the groundings
(3 gnd wires to the PSUboard, single transformator and the Agnd, Dgnd and TDA1543 L/R output gnd is connected.)
. or wrong components value (smd caps) PLL filter on the CS8416.
