Hi Peter,
What input do you need?Peter Daniel said:Yeah, I need input too. $3 is a good price and the offer should be put under serious consideration. The only drawback is long wait.
If you send a sample knob, it'll make Harry Valecha very happy and very relieved. He keeps complaining that the finer points of finish can't be communicated without a sample. It'll take about four working days for a Fedex/DHL packet to reach him. If you can do that, that'll be best; I'll give you his postal address in an email off-line. And if you can't, then a drawing will be the next best thing. Just post the drawing here, and I or my friends will point them out to Mr.Valecha.I'll prepare a drawing, I could even send one knob to him, but again, this will cause even bigger delay.

You should talk with BrianGT & Roddayama about the hidden costs of a group buy ... mailers, paypal discounts... on & on...

I need input from people who ordered chassis if they want to wait another 2 months for a set of 2 knobs. I don't think I would like to😉
wait?
I'd rather not wait a couple of months. My very well soldered boards are waiting to get a nice enclosure!

Yes, this delay is quite a bummer. 🙁Peter Daniel said:I need input from people who ordered chassis if they want to wait another 2 months for a set of 2 knobs. I don't think I would like to😉

I would rather just pay extra for now and get them made in canada, as the quality has already been determined, and the time schedule is reasonable. For future knobs, it would be a good idea to investigate the indian knobs, especially with the great price. In the meantime, I don't want to be stuck with a knobless amplifier.

Well, we got some good feedback here!!! The Indian knobs seem to be the next project, not for this first order. I would encourage Peter to send his crown jewel Old Mark Levinson knob all the way to India, with the chance of getting many in return. (maybe in a scaled up 30mm size also?)Then we would have 2 choices in the future....... Seriously, the chances of it being lost aren't huge I would think....., and the shipping seems a lot faster and easier than I ever suspected..
I like the indian knobs
they sure look allright, but I consider that they are Indian Origin.
I would be carefull though that a custommade knob according to an existing design would take less than 60 days, coming from India.
Time flies and my feeling is that it would take upto that long!
besides it is hard to pin them down if they do not come through within 60 days.

Peter,
when do you expect your chassis to be ready for shipment?
Will this be that much earlier than the ~8 weeks lead time on the indian knobs?

Peter worte: "It shouldn't be more than 2 weeks now."
This puts things in perspective... I think can have 50 knobs done in two weeks. Expect costs to be about $10 or less.
Peter, I'll finish a couple finalized pairs tonight and overnight them to you tomorrow for your expert evaluation
Dave(planet10) or anybody interested in knobs for other purposes than the GC kit, I will start another thread for custom knob requests tonight.

I put the non-specialized kit-oriented knob thread here: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=383072#post383072
