Hi there. I'm wandering if I can change on a central speaker two drivers with similar one without altering the crossover. I'm talking about Wharfedale 9
Thanks!
Thanks!
I'm talking about Wharfedale 9
Do you mean the Wharfedale Diamond 9.CS?
In general, you can't change drivers without changing the crossover.
If you provide more specific information on what you want to do, and why you need to do it, we may be able to give suggestions.
Thank you!! it's actually the wharfedale 9.cc (smaller brother) one of the two drivers, not the tweeter, has the suspension broken. So I have two wharfedale 9.sr. that I donate use anymore. The drivers looks to have the same size; the have a slightly deeper response though
The Diamond 9.CC and the Diamond 9.SR are matching parts of the Wharfedale Diamond 9 Home Cinema pack.
It is quite possible that the mid/bass drivers are interchangeable between the two.
Go ahead and swap a mid/bass driver over and find out how the centre speaker sounds - you can't do any damage by doing so.
P.S. The deeper bass response of the driver in the 9.SR will be down to the engineering of its particular enclosure.

Hi! Actually I tried to swap the drivers, but then from the central speaker doesn't fit into the .sr. it's too long, Same size 4'' but longer. Does it mean the longer one sounds better?
I'm slightly confused. Your plan was to transfer the driver from a 9.SR to the 9.CC centre speaker.
Do you mean the driver from the SR is too deep (from front to back) to fit into the CC enclosure?

I agree, russc, it is apparent that the 4" driver in the centre speaker is not identical to the 4" driver in the satellite speaker.
guys! thank you again! yes the cc driver is deeper than the sr and doesn't fit into the the sr case. Possibly what russc says is correct. Well I will try to put a new suspension to the cc driver myself. First time form me.
Don't you mean the SR driver (mid/bass) is deeper than the CC driver (mid) and doesn't fit in the CC case?
Whatever, replacing the front suspension or surround of the cone is not so difficult provided you work carefully and follow instructions.

no no sorry the driver of the sr fits into the cc but the cc one doesn't into the sr. anyway. do you know any place where I can buy the suspension and the glue?
Search for "loudspeaker surround replacement" on the likes of ebay or Amazon.
Here is an example from UK ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12333936...kMagx7BYH|tkp:Bk9SR9C61f_aZA&var=423736432264
Scroll down and you'll find the exact measurements of the different sizes of surround that are available from that particular supplier.
Look for similar details on your local sites.
"Tacky PVA Glue" is used to attach the surround. It should be the tacky kind of PVA glue, not ordinary woodworking PVA glue.
