You can't measure or even see these differences with a scope or by looking for response deviations with other types of test gear.

Distortion analysis would probably show a difference though, not necessarily so much in raw figures but in the distribution of the nature of all the harmonics that make up the final distortion result and that is something we can hear.

Erm, everyone has their own ideas on this :D

(I would fit good quality commercial grade parts every time here, make sure the size is correct as there is nothing worse than big parts that don't fit and then having to 'wire' them in... which in most cases not only negates any possible benefit but can actually be very much inferior as it is open to pick up and increased impedance. So Pana and Rubycon from Farnell and the like are perfect. Go for 105C rated where possible as these tend to be higher spec than 85C rated parts and check those dimensions)
