Thank you again, this sounds like a solid precaution. I am going to write this down to remember in future.
Anyway, as you wrote: Cheap bookshelf speakers. What would one seriously expect from throwing other passive components into them?
Best regards!

Have you considered listening to them?is measuring the driver and the tweeter with an ohm-meter enough to determine whether they are working
I applaud your optimism. Just play music and put your ears next to both speakers. If there’s sound coming out, the speakers are working.
You would get a much better outcome from replacing the cone tweeter with a cheap dome tweeter than replacing the capacitor.
You’d get a much much better outcome by looking for some good quality used bookshelf speakers rather than those Pioneers.

Haha, yes I connected them, played sound using frequency sound generator app and there is sound coming from both. Am probably going to replace the tweeters as was suggested few times. I do not feel like parting ways with them just yet, for sentimental reasons.Have you considered listening to them?

If you don't mind sharing, what would your picks for "some good quality used bookshelf speakers" be? Here in Central Europe the used market is wildly different than in the west, especially here in the former puppet state of the Soviet Union. But maybe I will get lucky and find someone selling them.
The C601 pop up from time to time on auctions and marketplaces. One pair sold for 95$ just one week ago which is not a bad price I believe. How much did you pay for your pair?
That’s a good price. I bought the E805’s for $50 but the boxes were not in good condition and had to be recovered with vinyl.
I wish I knew. In my case rwplacing just tweeter caps on Focal profiles, the speakers produced somr very weird surround like effects when first installed. Sounds would appear to come from below and behind me for a while. Measured with DATS before installation and they seemed spot on.BS. What's going on with capacitors physically when they »break in«?
Erik
Erik, without disagreeing with you or looking into the cause, I can tell you that after a while we tend to get used to general acoustic issues.
Ordinarily this could be a sign of a problem. The essence of listener fatigue is the need to mentally process acoustic problems which can take time for us to learn to tune out. When there are no problems it should sound right straight away.

Hey Allen,
I've replaced a lot of caps, and this is the only time I experienced anything like that. It is possible a HRTF like issue was introduced which I later got used to, however the speakers measured fine impedance and FR was as expected. It was however not a subtle "oh I think this sounds a little bright" type of thing. However, if I did get used to it, none of my (admittedly few) other listeners ever heard a problem with it. It was very odd.
