Why not give power mosfets a miss, and use a fetlington - JFET driving the base of a beefy BJT in Darlington config - instead? Dropout voltage virtually goes away, yet the filtering network works into the same 'infinite' base impedance.

Pchannel JFETs with IDSS > (3 amperes / Beta), suitable for driving BJTs in a power amplifier Cap Multiplier, are hard to find.
