I’ll 2nd that ,extra bitumen is what I suggestedI wager they will suggest you do not add internal bracing to your ProAc DT8s! 😉
There no bracing in any ProAc model plus you would have to rip it apart to do it rightYeah I abandoned the idea of bracing.
Exactly why I abandoned the ideaThere no bracing in any ProAc model plus you would have to rip it apart to do it right
I just added a comment in proac groupThere no bracing in any ProAc model plus you would have to rip it apart to do it right
Are the DT8 new ?

I ordered some sonic barrier foam to try for only the back panel Behind the woofers.
so I will remove the original white foam strip on the back of the speaker cab and put in a strip of sonic barrier to see if it cleans the mids and highs a bit more.

wont over do it. Just replace the existing foam with the sonic barrier. Maybe it will perform better.

what would you recommend that is better?
i can’t put batting since it will fall to the bottom.
i need a strip of around 4” width material and around 1“ thick.
the length I need to measure. But I want to put it on the back wall of the cabinet to replace the existing foam.
what if i take ridged fiberglass from a gik panel I don’t use , make a strip of it and cover it with some material that won’t allow the fiberglass to escape?
As far as adding internal bracing to a ProAc DT8 is concerned, I would say that this thread has run its course.

doesnt matter.
the point of this thread was to tighten up the mids and highs a bit.
As if they're not dangerous enough already, and you put yours together wrong??A motorcycle spring and damper are in series.
You will not acheive that by such unusefull diy. Quite the opposite.
care to elaborate?
i don’t mean that in a snarky manner.
legit question.
All was said already. Bracing path with this speaker that is stiff enough is a dead end. Glad you gave up that idea.
Not if you tease it properly.i can’t put batting since it will fall to the bottom.
Sonic barrier may also affect the TL action. You do not want to decrease the effective cross-section of the line.

my speaker doesn’t have a TL
It can’t help but be a TL. It is too tall relative to the width and depth, with the vent out the bottom. It is an ML-TL no matter what they call it.

dave
it does have a piece of foam fitted in the middle like a transmission line though
