try 'Creative inspire 5.1' series, although you do have to buy a seperate sound card as well. I bought them both, and the 5.1 surround sound is amazing in films. You can hook them to the wall but it's basically hammering in a nail with a large flat end and hooking it onto that. well thats how I've done it.
Go to ebay and search for 'creative inspire', you should pick them both up cheap.
However, if you want top qualtiy home theatre speakers in the uk, go to richer sounds, www.richersounds.co.uk/ or.com they are incredibly cheap.
Any questions on the creative speakers, just ask. Hope this helps

There is simply no better choice for a 5.1 home theater/pc setup
than a set of logitech z-680. they are 500w, and dont require a
pc, but cmoplement them nicely. I see it has multiple inputs and you can basically hook up 2 consoles, a pc, and a dvd player at
the same time. It is consistently the highest rated pc set you can get rivaling and beating many of the 5 channel home setups(under 500$ anyway).
They can be had shipped for $275 new!

Negative, I am currently useing the 640's on my set up right now.
I bought them a while back and I really like them. I think they are one of the best value 5.1 setups out there. The only thing I dont like about them is that all of the controlls are on the center speaker and cable for that is about 6' long or so, I makes the placement of the center a little challenging for my setup. But for the money, I think they are defenatly worth it.

In my opinion the best computer speakers made are the Klipsh's they make a killer 5.1 channel system, and it is powerful, However, it's quite $$.

I must agree with snootch. The Klipsch Promedia 5.1 system was the best sounding PC speakers I have heard, expensive as far as pc speakers go however.
Home speakers.
Ok, now what about nice **** home theater system speakers? I already have the subs. I just need some really nice sounding satilite speakers (all 5) and I already have a reciever. Can anyone suggest?

DIY!!!! I have built a lot of speaks and for the best sound DIY is the way to go! You can adjust crossovers, design the speaker for the size of your room, your listening tastes, etc.
As far as buying speaks....
My bud's Acoustic Research satellite speaks sound good for the price.

i wish i could build a DIY system...unforutunately i know absolutely nothing about it 🙁 if only there was some instructions...or a place that sells cheap DIY set....
....

i have the 6.1 inspire speakers there great as i dont want lots of power and the sound placement is great. i got the brown boxed for 60 pounds so thats 10 pound per speaker ans a amp to.
😡
don't use pc speakers to build a home cinema
their power isn't high enough even if it's written 600watts on the box it's not true
i use 2x80w front
2x100 rear
add 2x70 rear
1x70 center
no sub for the moment
power amp are mini 2x70 (3 amps)
no pc speakers can do that
50joe is right build your own or go on ebay buy 1 power amp 5,1 with speakers

In general you are right, but the exceptions are the logitech z-680 and klipsch speakers. These are exceptional values. They have multiple inputs, remotes, and are shielded.
Yeah my z-680s are waaaay more than powerful enough. I have to keep the sub down to minimum levels as to not shake my sisters room, and with it turned up to 50% the stuff on my desk shakes.
Just to mention.. no matter what speakers you have.. if they aren't placed correctly, they're not living up to their potential. The positioning of your speakers is SO important and I find it's underrated by so many people. The vast majority of my friends, using a wide variety of computer speakers.. have them in the most awful positions ever.
Regardless, I can't stand when people have their speakers behind their monitors or in wacky positions.. here's a cool guide to some speaker positioning, it also has one for computer set ups:
http://www.soundwise.org/maxpcarticle.htm
I gotta say, positioning makes speakers sound soo much better, even cheapass ones. If you don't check out the article.. then try:
Your front speakers at ear level.. this is where they sound best and it's very noticeable.. otherwise you lose the more detailed sound.
Next, try placing your front satellites (left and right), the same distance apart as their distances to you, forming an equilateral triangle, pointed in towards you.. once you have it "just" right.. you'll know.. close your eyes and you shouldn't notice that the sound is coming from either left or right.. it should blend together so that there's a "stage" or sound in front of you.. (this is 4.1 biased.. but I do it for my 5.1 home theater set up too)
I love when I hear it.. I get all tingly.. I don't have a 5.1 system for my comp.. but I don't have the cash to get a set of that'll outdo my Klipsch 4.1s (ie. Klipsch 5.1s)
Happy listening,

The z-680 are really geared to home theater... They have optical inputs and a dolby/dts decoder.
You guys are bad for my wallet! Geez, I guess i'm gonna have to do a system for my comp. now. How about a 6-channel reciever, (50-70WRMS/ch) 6" & tweet in each satellite, 12" powered sub... All DIY of course! Ill probably gey all my components from:

At www.justdeals.com you can get the logitech z640's for $35. They don't come close in power or quality to the THX certified sets, but I'm thinking about picking up a set, I don't think I can pass up that price. You can also get the THX certified 560's for $120, wich is an excellent price for them.
