Hey there
I'm looking for a DIY build that is like the calpamos. Unfortunately the originally used LF driver is out of stock everywhere. I do really like the horns and the 2 way design. Should be better for imaging and soundstage.
I want a hifi stereo diy build with an very punchy 15" pa woofer with low frequency extension, but higher sensitivity.
Also, I'd love if there's a build for a speaker, that doesn't break your back. The calpamos is 70kg each, and I don't even understand how that's possible.
Thanks for your input/Ideas!

Lots of information here:
2 way Faitalpro Horn Speaker build
I'd go 12" if I were you. Faital 12pr300/310 etc should be easy to come by, depending on where you are.
10" might be another alternative.
You'll find lots of threads like this here with good suggestions for woofers and such.
Just finished a prototype 2-way open baffle with horn and 12" (830669) that I can lift with one arm but of course that I wouldn't call particularly punchy unless equalized.
70kg really seems like a lot even after plenty of bracing.

Tony Gee's Mezzo Calpamos is nearing completion. A smaller version of the Calpamos with a 12". They'll be on demo at the Dutch Audio Event in two weeks.
No clue about their weight though...

btw, the 15PR400 is still availeble at THP: Speaker FaitalPRO 15PR400, 8 ohm, 15 inch
And i see it on several other EU webshops also. But the smaller version could also be good, depending on the implementation.
