I thought so too but when I mentioned that it took a pressure wave and an ear to complete the equation on another forum, someone posted a definition that didn't include the ear part. Hence the Websters reference.
Again it comes down to the definition of the words used but I think most people would hold to the definition requiring ears and a brain.

I was at one of our other offices on Wednesday and I asked the IT support team the question about the plane.
Big mistake 🙁
I spent about an hour arguing with them about it… They can all grasp the concept of the rollerskater on the travellator and all that but are all convinced the plane won’t take off…
Anyway, my boss found out and I had him on the phone for ½ hour today – he doesn’t think the plane will take off either 😀 Cue loads of emails flying backwards and forwards trying to explain the model to them all afternoon… I’m exhausted – I haven’t had to think so much at work for years 😀

hehehehe I'm in IT too (well when I choose to be working 😉 ) hmmmm Bashornman too, I wonder how many more of us that were participating here in this thread from hell were IT people 😉 maybe that explains a bit!!!

Maybe it's a karmic virus type question for IT people for all the time IT people spend telling users not to open suspicious email attachments or download stuff of the internet 😀

Personally, I think giving the question to a pack of lawyers is the perfect solution to that problem. They'd probably end up suing the airlines.
