Cable optical or coaxial for high SQ ?

I was looking at prices of "boutique" cables (Audioquest, etc) and decided that I will invest my money in new vinyl.
For my digital world, I will continue using my unpresentable and old coaxial cable to play my CDs. If any RFI or EMI interference arises, I will push the button on the Oppo RC and switch to Toslink. Easy.
Point for me, another broken thread, I won't be bothering to add new threads for a while, as Pink Floyd used to sing to their mother, "don't break my balls ". What a heavy mother she was!

you ever listened to closely to a variety of dacs? You can't hear the dynamic noise masking of low level details? I have described what it sounds like in the dac in my laptop. It sounds like you are hearing everything there is to hear, with no loss of low level details. Is smooth noise like resistor noise that that's gone when the music stops playing.

Again, get a good dac, get used to how it sounds, then go back and listen to a cheap dac.

Please share the details of such listening comparison setup so that others can try what you suggested. Thanks.
