It appears to just be the distortion on the power line, you know, like your wall outlet. Who needs a load for that?

Yes but would the distortion be there without any load current? As I noted, it's just the same wave-form you see on the neutral with a cap input power supply. With some noise, which is subsequently removed.
Now I do agree that that is an improvement. There are many ways to get such an improvement. What was the price of the devices to get this difference?

Sometimes it improves things, sometimes not. However the mechanism that makes it happen is not obvious to doubters, like yourself, because there is not significant inductance, capacitance and only modest resistance, by any measurement normally used in a laboratory. It does sometimes look like a 'noise gate' and I too wonder if that is such a good thing. However, Jack has a different explanation, but you would not begin to believe it, so I will let it alone.

Worked with and still do with Dranetz-BMI equipment. If I recall the bandwidth of that old dog was sufficient to capture the transients we are seeing accurately, so I think the graphs can be trusted, albeit with limited test setup information.

The magnitude difference between with-Bybee and without-Bybee are significant. We aren't talking microvolts, here - this is something easily seen on any 10 MHz scope. I am a little miffed as to all the debate about "measurements aren't everything". Why the need to claim the Bybees do something we aren't able to measure, but they work nonetheless?

If the test setup was proper and the QP really did in fact filter out the hash as shown, this is easily quantified, reproducible, and measureable; and with much better test equipment than an old BMI. A few simple measurements with a spectrum analyzer would be all that is necessary to permanently silence us pig-headed engineers that insist on some objectivity before believing in the Bybee. If those documented measurements can be performed, Jack would find his sales skyrocketing, as subjectivists and objectivists would both be lining up to install these magical devices in their equipment.

Either that, or it would be found that the QP is really just some kind of LP filter. Maybe that would hurt sales if we determine we can get the same performance out of an RF choke.

Bybees are simply too expensive to be practical with economically concerned individuals. I couldn't afford them, and many here would rather spend their extra cash on good wine and food, etc. That's OK with me.
Actually Jack is understanding of the limited measured effect these devices evoke, and is working on releasing practical circuitry, in module form, that cleans up the AC line many times better. However it is still relatively expensive for most applications, even my own.

Think this helical thing through everyone. How much resistance multiplication you get from cutting a helical path?

As much as you want depending on how much you cut out.

Is this a good way to TRIM a resistor, if it is in the ball-park in the first place? .02 ohms isn't much.

Who says it's in the ballpark in the first place?

And yes, it is a good way to trim a resistor. What, you think they coat the cores separately for each and every standard value and manage to do it to within 1% or less of the final value?

What they do is coat within much broader ranges and then laser trim them to their final value.
