Lest we all laugh at devices like the Shakti one that Phred has drawn our attention to, I would like to relate an interesting finding of mine 10 years ago.
I had a metal rack mount cabinet, with the amplifier mounted 12" down, and the cdp on top.
I had a ring clamping magnet from a junked cdp in my hand as I walked past my rack, and just for somewhere to put it, I placed this ring magneton the side of the rack, and the sound changed.
My reaction was, Huh ????.
I did several cycles of remove and replace and confirmed the change.
Next I found by shifting and rotating the ring magnet, that I could subtley 'tune' the sound of the system - Huh ??? again.
With some experimentation I found a spot and rotation that I preferred.
I very finely marked with pencil my preferred location.
When my flatmate came home that afternoon, I handed the magnet to him and asked him to stick it on the side of the rack -"John, can you just stick this on the side of the rack for me so I know where it is ?." (I used this magnet in my servicing of
CDP's.)
Immediately he stuck it on he remarked - "Did the sound just change ?"
I just said "Try that again" and he did, and we both agreed that the sound did change.
I then suggested that he move the magnet and rotate it to see if there was any further sound difference.
He duly did this, and after a short while came to the same position (within 6mm) and rotation as I had previously.
Then I let on that I had tried the same experiment earlier that day, and showed him the fine pencil marking.
My GF came over later that evening and we repeated the experiment.
Really funny thing is that she settled on near as dammit the same positioning as John and I.
I still do not have an explanation for this finding, and perhaps never will, and have found it curious that all three of us came to
the same positioning and orientation of that magnet.
Eric.

Did anybody notice the Dyno Tests page on the Shakti site? It's like supercharger only cheaper!
Has anyone tried a BQP on their car?
If you did it right, you could enjoy increased horsepower and better sound.

I'd be really pissed if I had a super fitted and got a 3% increase in power.

Correct technique is to repeatedly hit the muffler with a Shakti(tm) until it falls off giving a throatier exhaust note, and a MASSIVE!!! 3% power increase.
I wonder if my AQ interconnects in lieu of spark plug wires would be beneficial.
Shakti mentions that those horsepower gains usually cost people $3-4k. Can't you get a 50hp NOS system for $500?
Hmm, will filling my speaker enclosures with nitrous oxide improve their transient response?

I don't know; I suspect not, given the density of N2O. But if it is also used to fill the room, it will definitely make the music sound better. Wheeeeeeeeee!!!!
So, after so much reading and a curiosity of a cat, I purchased 2 pieces small Purifiers.
I started connecting them between the Pre and Power Amp. (Holfi PreNB1 battery powered Pre, and Holfi NB250 power amp connected to each other with taralabs the One).
In the beginning it was a disaster. The sound became thin and sharp. What a waste of money.
But then strange things began to happen. The sound was changing by the minute. I have never, never experience a tweak that changes character so fast and so much.
I also tried moving them directly in front of my high power Infinity Emit Tweeters. Also in the power section of my modified Benchmark DAC1.
I have them now for a couple of days only, tried a few setups.
Here are my conclusions.
First. Now they are back between the Pre and the Amp. I tried removing them totally, and I missed what they do, so they came back.
It seems like the music is more precise and alive. It is cleaner in an impressive way, the same effect experienced when played with cables. The instruments are painted more precise in the room. From the negative side of view, I think that the sound is a bit thinner, though this is one of the factors that is rapidly changing by the break in.
Needless to say, I ordered to more.
These are my experiences, based on personal experiments on my own system. So I am not saying that they will do the same for you.
The only think I can say that is not good enough is the price. Too expensive, but on the other hand I payed more for a bottle of Furutech Nano oil that was a completely disaster….
Kind regards to you all

...did someone say boobies?!?!?!?!?
I'm sorry, but that's all I got out of this thread. And quite a few laughs BTW.

Not sure if a room full of nitrous oxide makes the music sound better but it will be hilarious and pain free.
(nitrous oxide=laughing gas)

One failed project listed on Doug Self's site was the Oxygen Free Listening Room ...😀

Well... why are you wasting your time reading it then?
Bad movies and books... you only know they are a waste of time after reading them...
LOL... you dont have to read the whole book to find out that it is crappy....🙂
Well to go back on toppic, I was also skeptical about the bybees, it took me over 2 years to deside to give them a try. But for me they do work..

Well...
really the negative attacks, by people who have no experience with them, of the Bybee QPs seem quite closed minded. And what is the big mystery about how they work? This has been explained many times, even in this thread-the QPs use a proprietary substance to damp/absorb certain frequencies which obscure musical details-this is hardly something that is difficult to believe.
Yes, the marketing speak associated with the QPs could, perhaps, be more forthcoming-but every product developer has a right to protect proprietary trade secrets, and no one is forcing you to purchase them.
I own a couple pairs of the QPs. I have only used them in the AC power path to this point, and every time I have used them in that application they have produced results. Quantifying the results of a tweak like this can be difficult, but I would say that the improvement they offer is similar to that of making a step up in interconnect quality.
Adding a pair of QPs somewhere in a system is not going to make a middle of the road set up suddenly sing gloriously-but adding a pair to an already well sorted, high resolution system will make a difference for the better.
I would recommend that anyone curious about them give them a try. I have found adding them to between the transformer output and rectifier stage in a DAC a good place to try first.

VERY difficult to believe. Back it up with data. All else is **.

Well
I dont see why these users that experiense good results must waste time and energy to make you believe that it works🙂 its totaly up to you. From my point of view I found that this tweak works and want to share my experience. I have no interrest in finding or providing hard core data, as long it works.
That Said, happy users dont try to sell you anything

I guess the reason naysayers read and participate with interest in threads like these is quite simply that it's gobsmacking that a handful of "very open minded" people can be attracted to even trying this stuff. No measurements ever come to light, there are always genuinely happy customers and the threads always make a cracking read 🙂
But on a serious note I came to share the news... I have recently proven that a ferocious mix of velcro underwear partnered with a ferret and an additional ferret in my loudspeaker crossover produces a soundstage that extends beyond reckoning on all songs about ferrets, such as The Ferret Song.

Actually ferrite beads are used this way to attenuate certain frequencies, they also happen to be fired ceramic substances, though theses (ferrites) work due to well known electrical phenomena, and not being very bright dont know anything about quantum effects, so obviously bear no resemblence to Baybee Quantum Purifiers, they just work in a similar way, to reduce the noise floor in electronic systems.

Do you think that the same could be done for songs about drug abuse?
