Tice Clock IS A Load Of Rot

I have tried the Bybee devices and am not impressed, nothing that can't be done with a few caps or inductors.

Hi Jam,
It sounds like you heard some difference - can you say what kind of difference ?.
This all reminds me of the Tice clock...... after all ignorance is bliss.
Yes, unfortunately it seems that this Mr Peter Belt is from another planet, and his writings do seem crazy.
From what I have read the Tice Clock adds noise into the mains just like any other LED clock.
I suppose that is ok if the listener likes more mains noise - I don't.

Eric.

Yet many people who have tried his tweaks and his products (including the likes of Martin Colloms, John Atkinson, Jimmy Hughes and Alvin Gold) have reported significant improvements in the sound of their systems. Even those things (such as writing positive words over the CD logo on CD cases) which have absolutely nothing to do with the system itself.

So Belt's stuff "works" too.

Eric,

The Bybee products seem to smooth the high end much like a mains filter or ferrite beads. In some cases they can hurt the sound and squish dynamics a little.

The Tice clock was available at Radio Shack for less than 1/10 of the cost of the Tice (but of course it did not have the special treatment) but the result was the same.

Most audiophiles assume that a difference in sound means better and of course if it costs more it has to be better.

"I've Got Bose Speakers And Monster Cable - It Sounds Great !!.

Any effect on mids, particularly high mids, and lows ?.
I hear your comment of squishing dynamics - are sure that it is not removing 'false' dynamics ?.
What were your experimental conditions - what sort of gear and where were they placed ?.

Most audiophiles assume that a difference in sound means better and of course if it costs more it has to be better.
That is a product of marketing is it not ?.
I got over that trap a loooooong time ago.
Nowadays if it is cheap and effective I am happy to try it.
$500 clock - not a chance.
I have heard Mpingos and heard the difference, just I did not like the difference, small as it is, and directional too.

Eric.

No I don't have Bose or MC, but I wish I had a dollar for everytime I heard that quote.

Email from the Beltway:

"Thank you for your enquiry and for your interest in our techniques and devices. We have today sent you a small sample of Rainbow Foil by air post.

To begin with, I would suggest that you familiarise yourself with more information by reading the P.W.B. Newsletters, most of which are on our web site. - http://www.belt.demon.co.uk/ The Newsletters are compiled and edited by one of our customers, Dr. Richard Graham (who is a Consultant Psychiatrist at a leading London hospital) and most of the people who contribute articles have been using our devices and techniques and following our concepts since Jimmy Hughes’ first article about our work and discoveries appeared in a British Hi-Fi magazine in September 1987.

Peter’s background is 50 years in the audio industry, the first 30 years as a conventional engineer designing and manufacturing moving coil loudspeakers, electrostatic loudspeakers, orthodynamic loudspeakers, moving coil headphones, electrostatic headphones, and orthodynamic headphones. He was constantly researching as to how he could improve the sound and then, during a period of further research, he realised that there were many things that were having an effect on the sound, things that could not, by any stretch of the imagination, be altering either the audio signal or the acoustic air pressure waves. He began to realise that it must be us (human beings) who were reacting to the modern environment. The last 20 years have been spent in this unconventional area, struggling to find ways to counteract these adverse conditions.

Our basic concept is that everything in the modern environment has an energy pattern that we (human beings) are sensing and reacting to - that we are interpreting these energy patterns as ‘danger’., ‘intruders’., ‘predators’, or that we cannot resolve them, therefore we remain under tension. Peter has developed techniques to change these adverse energy patterns to ones that we recognise as ‘friendly’ and therefore to gradually treat so many things in the modern environment (including the very audio equipment) so that we (human beings) can be under less tension, therefore can perceive more of the information that is actually in the room.

The audio industry, in general, (reviewers, manufacturers, retailers) are in a ‘mind-set’.

1) They believe that in engineering terms, the equipment has reached a high (say, hypothetically 85% ) standard of excellence. Peter and I have no reason to disagree with this concept - in fact we believe that this level of engineering excellence has been available for many years - even on inexpensive equipment !

2) They believe that we (human beings) can actually hear that (85%) standard of engineering excellence - this is where Peter and I disagree with the audio industry. We believe that because of the introduction into the environment of electricity, electronic equipment, man made materials etc. - we (human beings) cannot now make sense of our environment and therefore remain under tension. Peter and I believe that because of this reaction, we (human beings) are only able to perceive (hypothetically) 10-12% of the engineering excellence that is available and has been available for some considerable time..

Once we were aware of what was happening, we developed techniques and devices to deal far more effectively with the many problems associated with the equipment and the environment.

The Silver Rainbow Foil is our most popular and versatile product and the price of the Silver Rainbow Foil is 20.00 pounds (UK Sterling) for a pack containing 3 x 17 cm lengths. A strip of Rainbow Foil can be attached to anything with great effect, but the first things to treat must be the source of the music i.e. Compact Discs., vinyl records, audio tapes, etc.

We have obviously developed many more devices over these past years but the one I have described is the basic, first step device to begin to deal with some of the fundamental problems which prevent us from ‘perceiving’ the wealth of information that is available from all audio and video equipment, irrespective of who manufactured it or its initial price.

We do not have a representative in your country, we supply direct to the customer. For any initial small purchases, I would suggest that you just send your country’s currency by post. Just work out the nearest equivalent in your currency to the U.K. price. All small items will be sent, by us, post free."

I wonder what happens if you stick Quantum Rainbow Foil on your Bybee Quantum Purifiers? I asked my buddy Heisenberg, but he was uncertain.

Have you never read about the experiment where you are supposed to remove 1 shoe and sock and place a tissue under your bare foot while listening? Try it! Not for nothing this has nothing to do with acoustics, but a lot with PSYCHO acoustics.

For the next entry in the dubious audio accessory category I submit:

http://www.shakti-innovations.com/hallograph.htm

I base this on my null results with the Shakti Stone, but hey who knows?

The really sad thing about that picture is the guy in it is Steve Hoffman, who's actually a well respected mastering engineer.
Every time I look at it, I wonder if he's taking the ****, but either way, allowing it to stay on thier site is foolish. It can only reflect poorly on him.
