then it could be your interconnects
nice amps
I've swapped out all other components - interconnects and passive controller. The way the channel "pops on" when I raise the volume seems like an electronics issue.

if it follows the BA-3, check the RCA chassis plugs
but could ofcourse be worse
like a cracked solder pad on your amp board
check all your board solderings using good quality magnifying glass
and a small flashlight in your other hand
expect a really scary sight 😀

I am building a single chassis BA-3 now and want to use a single transformer. I have specified 600VA with 4x 0-19V secondaries. Anyone have any comments about this design? Any advantage of this over just 2x 0-19V secondaries at 600VA?
4x better
meaning 2 independent per channel , so 2x Graetz per channel
better load symmetry between secs

hi zen
where you buy those graetz ? photo please
my usual place for buying Graetz's is sort of too far away for you

The BA-3 doesn't need a big transformer - I think I'm using a 50VA Antek.
I'm guessing you're adding BA-1 or BA-2 power stages and the big trafo is for them? If so the answer to the power supply size is to be found in the articles and the discussions.

Never did come across Leo Graetz before now but I'm gratefull to him anyway!
Was only going to use 1x Graetz per channel because that is all I have.
Thanks for feedback you guys (any gals?)
BA3 + Crippled F4
I am planning to couple BA3 with crippled F4
Transformer is 500VA 2x 22V
Is it preferable to use 3 pairs of Fairchild devices at 1A or 5 pairs at 600mA?
Thanks
Bob

3A a bit too much 🙂🙂
How about 3 pair at 800mA each or 5 pair at 500mA each?
Clearly 1 F4 board per channel is easier than 2
I have 2 - 18" pieces of

Think I might hook up three pairs and run them at 1A. See how the sinks do 🙂
Thanks for making it possible
