🙄 Yes please 😳Anyone still needing/wanting help or direction or anything regarding the foam core board folded Voigt Pipe/Frugalhorn "clones" just ask and I will assist or direct you to the correct post from XRK971.
I tried "It's entertainment, not dialysis"Class A, Negative H2, and don't forget to turn up the bias! After all we are fearless amplifier builders.
But alas, it was too many chars and didn't look right...
Agreed. If you are on carpets try a 12x12 tile underneath them. I am a big fan of downward firing ports. For whatever reason, they seem to me to hook up with the rooms better.

I'm gonna try that tomorrow. I guess I'll need to get some 18x18 tiles....
Right now I pushed them back right in front of the Maggies, so they're off the rugs. At the end of the Persian rug -which is awesome to figure out where to place the Maggies.
But I think if I can move them a couple of feet into the room they will sound better... so I need to get them off the rug somehow.
Like any speaker, they need some tuning love... as they are, they are really good sounding with great dynamics... an incredible feat for such a small unit.
The treble, wow! Amazing really.
Thanks
Maybe we should take this conversation to the speaker's own thread?
Another idea... are amps between 10 and 100 amps useless?
I mean, either you go for the efficient, 95 db/w speaker and a 5 wpc amp.... or go for 100 wpc and hook up the Maggies/Harbeths... etc.. The 85db/w kind.
What do you have that is happy with 38 wpc? None of my speakers seem to need that...
Do we need a new thread for this?

We recorded everything on zoom as well as on the camera. Once I find some spare time and appropriate permissions I will work on getting things online. Found your talk quite fascinating Tom!Thank you to all the organizers. It was a great event!

Who had that big Mini Pipo woofer column?
I spoke with you guys in the parking lot but forgot your names ( big deal... maybe our badges should also show our usernames? )

Thanks for the warm welcome for those of us who were new to Burning Amp! Truly a fun and interesting experience. And special thanks to Adam for letting me add my subwoofer to his rig.
For those who missed it, it's a dual-opposed sealed servo subwoofer (and lamp 🙂) with a 14" sonotube core and that stands about 73" tall. A Rythmik HX800 amp with 2x 400W is hidden in the middle zone, powering 12" GR Research 4 ohm drivers with the servo coils.
I'll eventually get a build post up, but here it is for visual reference!

I saw it.... touched it... loved it. I didn't hear it... want to see the plans....
Change the light to a color organ?

That's an excellent idea for next year.maybe our badges should also show our usernames?
OTOH having it preprinted would be nice. I don't know if Eventbrite supports an additional field that could be used for the DIY username.umm... use a pen?
Tom
I love that movie. Especially after working for a Silly Con Valley company for a good chunk of my life.

okay... next year I'm wearing my flair and playing the Geto Boys.
You can bluetooth program your scrolling namebadge to say Mordikai -- From Da Geto
Thank you to all for the great event!
Taking a moment to warm them up and really dial in the bias.
Now, gotta make me some SLOBs with the BG17’s and a nice pair of REL subs that need a new cabinet and some kind of display chassis for the Nutube pre. Gotta find a way to display the awesome “NP autograph” on the bottom!

Thanks, @mordikai! I've kind of gone in phases... built a number of things (Acoustic Reality Studio speakers, Aspen Electronics AKSA Nirvana 100 amp and GK1-R preamp, and a sub) in the early 2000's while living in Switzerland; almost but never quite got around to building some ideas in the 2010's after returning to the SF Bay Area; then had a son and am just now finding time to do things again.@dayneger I really love the design! I plan to try out something similar now. How was this your first BA after joining the forum back in 2004?
I also have too many sports and interests, so what little time I have gets spread pretty thin! But I constantly enjoy having good sound in the house.
My son was excited about the sub build, and helped where he could, resulting in it starring at his 8th birthday cocktails/dance party. 🙂
Acoustic Reality?
The same one that built the eAR 202? I got two of them....
BTW... that little "special" Mini sounds excellent. It just needs to warm up for half an hour.
Might be the blue LED?
And, what's in the black box in the power cord?
