The ONLY reason these devices still exist is the Federal Trade Commission has not done its job in eliminating fraudulent claims.
Down her in Argentina there still exists the "Medical Wonder machines" that were long ago debunked and eliminated from "The market" in the States.
The medical community rose up to put these "machines" and there makers out of business.
Here we have to put up with the commercials with the 'Saran wrap' "miracle weight loss" claims....the "Fat sucker" vacuum devices...and all the other ones.
All of them are really bad & laughable.
Only when governing bodies start going after these lying ****** will this garbage stop.
Double blind test all of this junk........& we will see these miracle claims evaporate like so much hot air.

Where will it end??.................
When the FTC starts doing its job....or the consumer will fess up to being had........

What a joke. The only legislation I recall dealing with audio device claims were enacted due to the wild amplifier 'specmanship' of mainline manufacturers like Sony, Technics, etc.. Hint for those who equate the need for combating misleading and potentially deadly medical advice with unnecessary cables expenditures: consider an outdoor activity.

Well if no-one shown that it do not happen in 'bulk' material, I would say it is still possible since it is shown to happen in a foil.

Lots of things are potentially possible. But it's not until something is shown to actually BE that useful knowledge is gained.

Sitting around doing nothing but speculating is just mental masturbation. It may feel good, but in the end, all you're left with is a mess on the floor.

Who CARES if there are changes or not? I can sit with an oscilloscope all day long and show differences between one component vs. another identical component. I'd be surprised if there were a measurable difference in burned in vs. non burned cable. - But even if there were - If no one can HEAR the difference, How does it matter in respect to audio?
If a tree in the forest falls with nobody there to hear it, it makes no sound!

For everyone, I am coming from the other side of the problem. For all practical purposes, break-in has been shown to me and all my colleagues, AND we work with it every day. Often, we try to find ways around it. One way is Cryoing a part. Yes, it works..."
Have you any proof that it matters? or is this yet another opinion unsupported by fact?
Where the rest of you think that is this crazy, is laughable, and I recommend that you don't try to compete with those of us who know better.
That's pretty haughty and arrogant of you. If your credentials really are to be respected, it should be others that speak of them. Doing this yourself just makes you sound more insecure.
At this point, I'll have far more respect for you if you simply own up to the truth - you have NO factual evidence, and all of this 'burn-in makes an audible difference' malarkey is simply your unsubstantiated opinion.

Sigh. Jan, I'm 100% sure he will hear the difference between new and burned in cables because of large differences in SQ with certain cables.
What I may or may not imagine I hear is irrelevant. Believing an opinion in which there is no objective proof would merely be joining with your delusion
Are you sure, you claim you want to learn but refuse an offer based on your preconceived and obviously untested (by you) ideas.
As I have said, There is a million dollars waiting for you. Prove it. Your opinions have been tested ad-nauseum. There is ZERO evidence to support your claims. I hope you'll forgive me if I don't rush out and buy a plane ticket.
Provide an objectively valid test that any of us can repeat, and we can collect some meaningful data. Otherwise, The facts are squarely against your beliefs. You don't have even conjecture on your side, you are fighting mountains of irrefutable fact.

" ... I have info at all levels. It is not always easy to understand, even by me. ..."
Still think your degrees and experience preclude you from learning more, as you already know it all, eh? Still think we should all cast aside reason, close our eyes and ears, and just trust you and your diploma?
I don't care what you think you can measure. Show me an objectively audible difference! Everything else is irrelevant here.
On my system it is not a theory, it is a fact but still interesting to note your belief.
Apparently, you either did not read, or do not understand any of the links I posted for you. If you willfully keep choosing ignorance, there is no point in arguing further. You have accepted delusion, as is your prerogative. But you still have no facts, and only have an erroneous opinion.
Again, if you feel you have something demonstrable, why will you not show it, and claim your million dollars? It is YOURS for the taking! There is no risk, you lose nothing by trying. Answer that at least.
I guess neither you or John have equipment to do that, so perhaps the best that can be done here is to make a suggestion of a possible influence and hope that someone with the right knowledge and equipment may become interested in testing it.
Why would you care? You've already dismissed all fact logic and reason with your burn-in and cable delusions, why would this be any different?

Oatmeal, if I started putting down Porsche racing mechanics and thought that I could do better with my Chevy, perhaps they would say about the same thing to me, like sir, you don't know what you are talking about, and I suggest that you don't try to race against us, because you will lose. Is this arrogance, or just good advice? Your Chevy may be the fastest thing on your block.

Where is energy stored in a metal? Can it be that working the metal has created a certain internal tension in it, that will release itself if coaxed? Even room temperature can coax it a little, cryoing can coax it, allot. Tempering may make it worse, and annealing might make it better. Any thoughts, anyone? How about you metal experts out there?
