Yes, teddy is a very lucky guy.It just bothers the hell out of me that some people have to leave their mark on every single thread.
"if you dont have something nice to say..."
But does it not bother you that what he says is so blatantly wrong - verifiable wrong, not just a different opinion - and that he is spreading it across the net? Putting all those unsuspecting lurkers years behind in education?
Are you not interested in getting things right for a change? Should 'being nice' be our top priority here?
jd

ncdrawl,
If I may,
I have removed one of your posts due to profanity and name calling. That is not allowed here. Neither is demanding that those with a differing opinion stay clear of a thread. You must know that Ivey is delivering some very controversial information and that those well versed are entitled to rebuke.

fair enough. my apologies.
.
entitled to rebuke.
my thing is...what motivates their rebuke? is it for the good of humanity?
or "ego"?
id bet any part of my body that it is the latter.

"being nice" -- the very reason this thread exists.
Ivey is building something for an individual and thought it would be nice to share his progress... I suggest that instead of being rude in public, that any comments that detract from the kindness/intent of the thread should be made IN PRIVATE.
it is called "tact" or "class". or, where i am from,.... "common sense" or "common decency"
ncdrawl,
That would be fine if Ivey had kept his opinions private but once aired you cannot expect that members of a public forum are not going to offer their opinions as well. That's the purpose of a forum.
I believe it's time to move on. Let's return to topic please.

It is to correct blatantly wrong statements. Not "controversial," not "opinions," just plain wrong stuff.
If Ivey wishes to post his preamp schematic for discussion, that's fine. The rest is just trolling.
Have you guys run the sockpuppeting stuff on him? I think he is actually trying to leave clues to his identity. Could "Teddy Ray" be a clue?
Nearly finish, just the wooden case remains:
Nearly done, so I decided to upload some photos of the phono preamp
Elephants never forgot, friends for life.
Chains that bond our friendship together.
Any suggestions for the wooden finish, Oak, Walnut, Maple, or Pecan.

I'm pretty partial to cherry (warm reddish hue) actually.. (Can you discretely find out what the recipient's preferences are?) Looks very nice btw. How about some circuit details at some point if you care to share them?

Hi Ivey,
I see on your bench my favourite yellow handled snips,
my favourite double ended black marker,
that might even be my favourite glue stick!
Hell, all that's missing is a lovely amp like yours .
Many thanks for posting your pics

Hi Ivey,
I see you're almost finished. Great idea about the elephant, as for the wood...all of them look great but I would choose walnut just because I think dark brown and light grey is a good color combo.

Hi Ivey,
I'm fascinated by those three glass/plastic rods. Are they pot extenders ? And do they light up ?

Yea, those are plastic rods, they light up in a beautiful blue light. Great for dim rooms.
I finish the phono amp
Here is a pic.
Amp sounds good using bench supplies, will layout power supply tomorrow and have it built this weekend.

Too bad they can't do holographic displays like the ones in Superman (the movie) could. 😛
My graduate advisor had me working on cold fusion for 3 mos.
I'm sorry, but I just can't resist... Were you a bad boy? 😀
