I'm building a headphone amp, but I'd like to build in a battery compartment so I don't need to open up the entire casing each time I have to replace the battery. I've searched for a battery holder with cover, but haven't been able to find one anywhere.

What sort of battery ? Cases that take single PP3's are available.
May be use a rechargeable and build it more permanently into the design with a socket on the case to charge as and when.

I need both PP3 and AA holders with cover. The only PP3 holders I can find have no cover.
Rechargable batteries would be a good solution I guess, though the schematics I find are rather complicated (too many parts)

NiMH or Nicad batteries are dead easy to use... one resistor and a supply (charger) higher than the battery voltage is all that's needed. If your using PP3 and AA then thats two resistors 😉
