Hi all, I was wondering if there are any serious tube amp builders out there in Europe(i'm located in Belgium), who accept build to order for push pull amps? I have a pair of Tamura transformers I would like to put to use! Much thanks for any info! cheers!
If nobody responds for a while, then
Re-start with the details of the transformer.
Primary impedance, maximum current, power rating.
A model number and link to the data sheet would be helpful.

Hi, Thanks!
fairly new here, since i got some time on my hands, i would give this a go! 🙂
i was thinking about a 2a3 in push pull
i have some Tamura transfo's (f-7021), those are 5K if im' correct
and i have a preference for "less is more" 🙂
cheers, filip

Not sure what you are after here. Are you looking for someone who builds a tube amp for you, using your transformer? Or are you looking for someone who helps you to design an amp around your transformer so that you can build this?
Of course there are some hundred serious tube amp DIY private builders in europe.
But I have never heard of anyone private who take orders to build amps for others.
There is simply no market for such things anymore.
In the audio scene, there are several different groups:
-one are the EL Cheapo asian buyer group. After the purchase, the unit is often to be "enhanced" or hot-rodded
-the next group are DIY. They build for themself. Not others.
-the very next group is High End people. They buy only good quality for high prices
-and the last group are the buyers from the big media market shops in the consumer malls.
They may buy cheap or expensive, but always try to make a good deal like the asian buyer group.
Not much more is active on the scene.
If you have a pair of good transformers, that is worth not very much, because you are missing the amp for this. And I dont see any guy who build it for you.
Of course, you can hire a professional. He will do it, no problem.
But in the end, you will end with a price tag that makes the price for your transformers look very tiny compared to the whole amp.
If I had to count the hours I invested in my monoblocks, in build and design and buy all parts, that goes in dozens and dozens of hours. Calculate just 30€ per hour and you will see where such projects end.
And thats private pricing. For a real pro, calculate 60€ per hour of labour minimum.
Those are the reasons why this isn't working out for both in most cases.

yes, indeed! thanks for the tip!

Definitely someone who can built me a kickass amp!
You work for free for other people, gaining nothing?I'd do it but I'm in Canada.
Very interesting subject but surely not the usual motivation for people.
Most people work to have a living.
I tried to do amp / speaker builds for others, taking money from them. I did this once or twice for friends, and of course I ended up to not charge them anything for my labor. I could build a tube amp for you, using your trannies, but you'd need to be very rich only to afford paying me for the planning phase...
Why don't you go the DIY route for your amp?

Not everyone can go that route. It takes time, effort, skills.
The most complicated and expensive machine for most people are their car engine. And even that has to be trained to be skilled to use it. What training should them make an amp working? It takes hundreds of hours of lifetime to get the knowledge and skills to do it.
Too much for most of the people and so they go into a store and buy a readymade product.

F-7000 outputs are begging for some nice, perhaps amorhous, to supplement the permalloy, interstages. And some really nice layered PS chokes, definitely amorphous too.
I run F7K SE transformer and it's top notch performance. Those are crying for the same class environment, which needs every design to be first class, too. Without deep pockets and the right concept, this could not use all of the potential of those transformers. Not easy to get to the edge for making those transformers run like a rabbit. Don't let them be wasted by poor design or parts.
I see no reason why the owner can not use 2A3 tubes in push pull to drive the Tamura F7000 70 Watt output transformer.
At least it will not saturate.
And at least with 5k plate to plate, it can have a damping factor of about 3.5, even without negative feedback, when used with the 700 Ohm rp of a 2A3.
5k/4, then /350 = 3.57
Who says you have to use parallel tubes, or KT88s, or . . . tubes to fully use that F7021?
One wants negative feedback, one does not; global, Schade, UL forms of negative feedback (if it has UL taps).
Do we have to drive the Porsche, Audi, or BMW at top speed to be able to enjoy the ride?
The question is, what does the owner want to do?

Saul Marantz wanted a real good Hi Fi amplifier.
He hired an Engineer, and the rest is history.
It can be done.
