I need more voltage out of the IVY-III balanced outputs. How high can it go with higher values for R13-R16? I would like about 12 volts peak differential, with is about 8.5V RMS differential.
Looks good. Enjoy!

That's asking a bit too much (not enough headroom) You could get pretty close though as long as you use 15V rails and the impedance of the next stage is high.
I would try 470R at R13-R16 and see if that is enough gain for you. Those resistors should be closely matched to each other.
Cheers!

How many U.fl cables do I need to connect a waveio to my b3se? 3 or 4 ? I don't know if I have to connect the master clock cable ... Thanks
Ok answering myself, after reading this topic http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/twisted-pear/215775-my-thoughts-miniature-coaxial-rf-connectors.html I don't know if it's a good idea to buy U'fl cables. But what kind of cables is the best for soldering I2S input from a waveIO card? Silver/Copper/PTFE ?

I went for u.fl at the "WaveIO" and soldering at the buffalo end.
Tried soldering the u.fl's but it was a little bit tricky 😱 so I skipped that.

I was thinking about soldering both pin headers and u.fl connectors onto the B3-SE. Any reason I shouldn't?
Yes, these things are tricky... I managed anyway... Have a WavIO board as well...
As another Wave IO owner, it might help if you pre solder the ground ufl connections, and then tap the solder with the connector in place. Then use flux for the + pin on back. Maybe pre tin the + pin as well to get the solder to flow quick and easy.

I made a short video on how to hand solder the u.fl connectors here: Hand-soldering u.fl connectors - YouTube
Hopefully it makes it a little easier. (Sorry for the shaking camera... I kept hitting it with my hand.)
That's how I did it, but I was shaking a whole lot more i'm afraid 😛
I've done smd before but one way or the other I found these parts difficult to solder.

I think I won't use these U.fl, I want solder these cables, but what kind of them ?
Cable Nu Silver-Gold-Copper - Cable Pure Silver 99.999% 1.0mm

It does not matter much, just use what you like. If I am soldering small gauge wire, I like to use PTFE/Teflon jacketed wire, as it will not melt and pull back when heated. I would not go crazy ($$) picking the wire.
EDIT: ApexJr has a good selection of PTFE at a good price: http://apexjr.com/wire.html

Also, does the B III-SE work in mono mode, or is it only Stereo? thinking about maybe going passive with two dac boards and ~32mA per channel, that would suite a 1:25 transformer perfect with 1R to GND!
Question...
Buff 3se on waveio
spdif work fine
i2s lock is off and mute is on
BLCK - DCK
LRCK - D1
DATA - D2
GND - GND
with isolated i2s the same result
buff 3se all switch on
idea ? 🙂 thanks a lot

Hi Russ
It plays perfect on i2s now 🙂
many thanks for the quick response
I should study the manual better🙄😉

Does the BIII SE need an earth reference? Or should one just let it float? I am using a power supply without a mains earth. Should I connect the PS regulator GND and BIII GND to chassis? (chassis connected to the RCA outputs 0v)
I am using a transformer for analogue output to a SE amp so the secondary could be left isolated from the DAC chassis, but the BIII would then be left floating.
thanks,
