I`ve been struggle last sale time to buy my Buffalo III in few tens of seconds from the sales start, and I succeed... Now it still be on sale after 8 hours from sale start...
Run and buy folks!
I`m still waiting for a shipping confirmation (as promised on shipping week of 21 aug.) for my pre order placed on the first sale minute of 6 aug...
Keep on the good work!
But no IVYs available to order 🙁
I was not planning to get the BIII as I already have a heard of BII's and B32S.
I ordered one anyway while the euro is still worth anything!
This is a moment to invest in gold or buffalo's😀
On the TPA site I could not find any Buffalo III firmware chip for the volumite. I hope Brian will be so kind to include one with the shipment.
I recently ordered a new multiformat player (Oppo BDP-95) and as this sports two Sabre 9018 chips I look forward to a direct comparison (and to tab the DSD/I2S signal, hehe).
Cheers,
Nic

You will not find one, as the Volumite is on-board. You do not need a stand alone Volumite with the BIII. Ask Brian to remove the Volumite if you have ordered one.On the TPA site I could not find any Buffalo III firmware chip for the volumite. I hope Brian will be so kind to include one with the shipment.

Hi
I just was thinking like you... a little earlier. I`ve already got a BDP95, and now I am waiting for my Buffalo... It could be nice to change same impressions, and hear your opinion about your player. But we have to find another thread for this subject...
Russ, I just realised that my BIII came with a firmware chip on the board, and a second firmware chip wrapped in a little bag. Are they the same?

No, they are not the same. use the one in the bag. 🙂
I had programmed and packed up several Buffalos when we made a small change to the firmware. Rather then unpacking them, I simply added the updated firmware chip. If you don;t get a second chip, your Buffalo has the new version on board.
I've just uploaded the BIII guide to the TPA site. It's become a pretty big document covering most configurations. Comments welcome.
Is the AVCC shunt regulator module for BIII identical to the module used with BII?
-> Leon: Great work on the BIII manual! I hope Russ and Brian are rewarding the great work you put into this🙂

Thank you for that Leon, it is much appreciated.
I'm starting to work out layouts, especially for doing a test layout before committing to a case.
Can anybody tell me the screw pitch/type so I might be able to track down a suitable tap if I use a spare perspex sheet>
Many thanks to all.
John

Holy moly, this looks like quite the document... yay for free printing at work! 😀
And THANK YOU so much for making this! Now I can get down to business
I read in the guide that the Placid HD BP is powerful enough to feed 4 IVY IIIs. Can it feed five? I'm planning to use 4 for 8-channel output and one more for stereo output.
Thanks all, but let's not forget that guide is only possible because Brian and Russ sent me LOTS of information. Esp. Russ put a lot of time in it answering my questions.
Leon, great work! Very well written, thanks for your efforts!
Well done Leon.
Hi Brain,i need the 4-Channel S/PDIF (or AES-EBU) Input Module part lists and manual, can't solder without the part list.
Thanks
