On the TPA site I could not find any Buffalo III firmware chip for the volumite. I hope Brian will be so kind to include one with the shipment.
I recently ordered a new multiformat player (Oppo BDP-95) and as this sports two Sabre 9018 chips I look forward to a direct comparison (and to tab the DSD/I2S signal, hehe).

You will not find one, as the Volumite is on-board. You do not need a stand alone Volumite with the BIII. Ask Brian to remove the Volumite if you have ordered one.

I just was thinking like you... a little earlier. I`ve already got a BDP95, and now I am waiting for my Buffalo... It could be nice to change same impressions, and hear your opinion about your player. But we have to find another thread for this subject...
Russ, I just realised that my BIII came with a firmware chip on the board, and a second firmware chip wrapped in a little bag. Are they the same?
I had programmed and packed up several Buffalos when we made a small change to the firmware. Rather then unpacking them, I simply added the updated firmware chip. If you don;t get a second chip, your Buffalo has the new version on board.
I've just uploaded the BIII guide to the TPA site. It's become a pretty big document covering most configurations. Comments welcome.
Is the AVCC shunt regulator module for BIII identical to the module used with BII?

I read in the guide that the Placid HD BP is powerful enough to feed 4 IVY IIIs. Can it feed five? I'm planning to use 4 for 8-channel output and one more for stereo output.
