Re: Buffalo 24 DAC support
The Buffalo 1.0 docs are on the Buffalo page:

I cannot find any information about 24's DAC on your site. Maybe, as you do find some, there will be a good idea to put schematics, manual & etc. for all of them 35 happy owners? Me too. Also. I've sent you e-mail about combined shipping of my orders, but my mail cannot knocked up to your box. I will try again. Regards, Valery.

Re: Re: Buffalo 24 DAC support
What is the difference between v.1.1 and 1.2 ?
Thanks

Re: Re: Re: Buffalo 24 DAC support
Nothing significant. Just added a 3.3V pin for the I2C interface to make it easier to add a Volumite.
Cheers!

Wow! Buffalo 24 is already sold out in the Parts Bin. That's a super fast sale! Well, with a blowout price of $159!

It's just amazing how these dacs just keep cropping up. Brian, what's your secret? 😱

Well, there is a bug in my inventory management code that I keep meaning to fix, which counts items that people added to their cart but didn't actually buy. I am periodically cleaning out the dead records, making more "available." It's really pretty sad code at the moment, and I started rewriting the whole thing last night. I built it all the day before the first ever round of Buffalo sales, and it has remained that way ever since.

Yes, Brian, you are completely right - the future is very bright but totally uncertain. 😉
I would be guilty of that Brian. I tried putting two of them into my cart last night but didn't see a way to view the cart and pay(Thanks to FallenAngel for the clarifications), I think I was tired and had the screen scrolled down just enough to not notice it at the top. I then added another one at work to see if it would make the cart appear at the top, and it did of course, but I can't use Ppal at work so I had to wait 'till I got home, and I hope the site was correct and you still had one available because I just paid with Ppal.
Again sorry for the mess up Brian
, I did order one finally.
Thanks for a great product and all your support and help. It is much appreciated.

Oh, don't take that the wrong way. The site is the one at fault, not any of the users. there should be no problem pricing things out. I had to add some code to make sure once you had a kit in your cart that it was counted against the available inventory, or I could end up with a bunch of people buying the same item. I just didn't do a very good job of it the first time around.
Hi Brian/Russ/Other members,
Just grab and paid one before they are gone. Buy first, ask question later 🙂
I am not doing anything fancy. What I need is:
1. SE output, optional balanced
2. Toslink and coax input
So, what else do I need to purchase? Please advise.
TIA,

I seem to remember there was mention of an "optimal" load for the dac output, when in V out mode.
What was this?? and the resultant V out if using both legs in balanced config ( a resistor on each + and - out ), as I am looking at trying both Sowter transformers and or a simple resistor to gnd on the grids of a dual triode and need to set the gain regime here.
The Lampizator man Lukasz has begun work on this but only gone part way down the track.

TIA,
1) You need an IVY. This module has both SE and balanced outputs
2) You need the MUX 4:1 and an optical module.

Thank you!!
Just found I have 6 of these lying around:
http://www.jensen-transformers.com/datashts/11emcf.pdf
I know people have used the lundahl and sowter trannies
in other postings I've seen.
Any thoughts on how to use these with the Buffalo 24's?

You can use this trannies for a bal/unbal conversion. Simply connect the primary to the output of the buffalo, no need for an IVY. This way the buffalo is in voltage mode and it sounds slightly worse than in current mode. Nevertheless you may prefer this voltage mode/passive out over current mode/active output stage.

Andre
