break-in options

I have a pair of 3-way (decent quality) speakers that have been stored for several months and need some playing time to come on song.
I have a spare amplifier (150W mono-block).
Any drawback to my wiring the speakers in series to the amp and leaving them playing for a weekend out in the workshop ?

After about 0,5 second a few things might happen and then after say 5 minutes some minuscular things might change,. then nothing really. How you connected them will have no impact at all.

I respectfully have to disagree. In my experience with PA drivers, Fs takes hours to stabilise unless brutally driven close to Xmax, and even then, 5 minutes won't do it! Soft suspension hifi drivers may be different.

Thanks all for your advice...esp Dave! 🙂
I will play them low and long and with a wide range of genres.

What do you consider may have deteriorated and will improve with use?
Nothing "deteriorated" though surrounds may have stiffened and crossover caps need slow reforming ?. ( I have treated the (rubber) surrounds in the past with Oil of Wintergreen and as these drivers are now 40+ years young I try to care for them as well as can be. 🙂

My main question was to the advisability of running them wired in series from a single mono amp and as no-one has advised otherwise I assume this is all OK.

As has been mentioned, it will make no difference.

However.. in cases where you will eventually be pushing them to the limit you'll want to keep in mind that they may not share the signal perfectly, meaning one may be closer to the limit than the other.
