I know it sounds like a lot. I would just like to see you get the best results for the money and labor that you will invest.
This is all that ChatGPT could find on the Technics midrange. So undetailed.
The Technics EAS-10PM3025-1 midrange speaker is likely a 4.75-inch cone driver. This series of Technics drivers are known for their smooth midrange performance and relatively broad frequency response, suitable for multi-way speaker systems. While specific detailed specs for this exact model are scarce, similar models typically have an impedance of 8 ohms and are built for clear midrange sound projection.
I'm thinking about just building it, hope for the best, and see how it sounds.

From his selection, indeed? Put your tweeter and mid in any box and start playing with the crossover? As for components, my audiophile friend supplied me with speakers and told me I can pick a crossover from his selection.

Quickest way to make an assessment is put the drivers on a baffle, tweeter over the mid, a 2uF cap in front of the tweeter, and softly play them together. How do they sound? Is there hope? Or should you go build a pair of Parts-Express C-Notes instead?
If there is hope, then take it all over to your friend and tell him you're ready for his help with the xo. Don't forget to bring your alligator leads!

Thank-you, that's very helpful! I'll try that out tomorrow.

Can you further specify?Quickest way to make an assessment is put the drivers on a baffle...a 2uF cap in front of the tweeter.

If you play the tweeter full range it will blow, so you need to work out a cap as a simple high pass for it...
Basically a tapped horn for the woofer - number of plans around, check Brian Steele's work.I'm planning to build a speaker, but I want to build something different - thinking outside the box (pun intended). I'm planning to build it out of either 12mm or 1/2" birch wood plywood. Maybe you guys have better ideas on construction materials. I drew a rough sketch of what I thought might work good (open side-view attached), but I need you professionals to give me the exact dimensions that would work best - or just tell me if the design just plain won't work.

I have a pair of AR PS2052 speakers, so no real need for that.Or should you go build a pair of Parts-Express C-Notes instead?
I think I see what you mean on the tweeters, I'll try em out tomorrow.
It's the time of the year when spending some money is alright.
