Boring Large Hole

It is a big piece of wood, a long enough jigsaw blade is needed.

Here in India the hole is drilled, the blade inserted, and cut started.
Maybe you are referring to a saber saw, which has a single sided blade, so there in no need for a start hole.
 
I didn't see one mentioned, if you are purchasing a jig saw, you might investigate the mounting/usability of a circle jig before selecting. The mount on an old Sears jigsaw I inherited is simply a bent steel with a pan head machine screw as a "set screw", which, for me, is generally a pain to work with.
