You'd want to confirm that the meter reads OL base to emitter and base to collector with the probes placed one way and several megaohms with the probes reversed. It should read OL no matter the placement on the collector and emitter.

In this instance, it would be better to set your meter to ohms instead of diode-check because the transistors may only be leaking.

both of them are bad, they both have continuity between emitter collector and one doesn't show mega ohms like it should between emitter, base.
will do, one last question. Do you think both of these are the same part numbers. the q315 has a hole burned in it on the top. Can only see it with a magnifying glass
got both of them replaced and the amp was put to work yesterday at idle for about 5 hours and so far so good. Today will hook it up and try it out..
