I doubt if is going to be more quiet, step up transformer with rectifier acts like an on/off switch which could add bit more noise to already noisy heaters , it would need to be tested in real life.
The heaters aren't noisy, there is an on board regulator.
No matter what supplies used thermionic noise is always there so they’re always noisy by the nature , it’s difficult to discuss anything without circuit diagram.
I’m looking forward to building it , looking for a good source in UK to make transformer any experience?
Hello Ferret, also interested where you get this offer from. I mostly buy from audiophonics and a custom made is about 51€...
Hi ikir and KVP,
The company is called Swift Heat & Control. They are based about 75 km from my home town in the South of Johannesburg. I do not know if they export to other countries, but I can ask. I do think the cost of shipping to Europe and elsewhere would probably triple the price. I'll provide feedback.

Looks good!My build is slowly progressing. The heaters are glowing in the first pic but no H/T connected.

May I ask where did you order transformer from?My build is slowly progressing. The heaters are glowing in the first pic but no H/T connected.

Oliver I had mine made by Tiger Toroids in Diss Norfolk.
Tiger Toroids is a British company offering a fast and flexible solution for transformers and sinewave inverters.
Here you go. Pretty quick turnaround from order to delivery.

Much appreciated
Not in the UK but TigerTorroids is looking favourable.I’m looking forward to building it , looking for a good source in UK to make transformer any experience?

Aren't they based in Suffolk
Possibly?Aren't they based in Suffolk
I haven't used them, Marra has highlighted their existence
I may drop them an enquiry.I used them many years ago for custom transformers. Glad to know they are still in existence.
Possibly?

What /who have you used then , could BOM be updated with links to different suppliers to choose from .
I'm also interested in preferred choice of vital components ie: coupling caps , RIAA resistors , caps , etc..., I don't want to skimp on quality but I won't go for expensive and very accurate Vishay z-foils as it wouldn't make much difference to RIAA accuracy , unless there is something to gain ?
The BOM does indicate the important resistors but all the 1% caps are equally as important. That could be marked up.What /who have you used then , could BOM be updated with links to different suppliers to choose from .

I can add a list of transformer builders too....once I find a few that will do one off orders.
