40Hz low frequency extension is a highly embelished figure by SF. Qts in the range of 0.2 won't have it.
You'd have to deploy a 15W Revelator in a larger cabinet to do that.
It's a highly desirable product from the aesthetics pov, of solid quality drivers.
Reflex loading could be improved, x/o as well, but optimized filtering would go
against 1st order philosophy.

Hi Lojzek, you are correct.
What I would like to emphasize is that both SCANSPEAK D2010/851100 tweeter and Discovery 15w-4424g00 are great drivers in "economy" range, used in expensive commercial product with success.
As said it sounds much better with subs, releasing 10cm driver from anything over 100HZ, clearing mids and adding bottom.
15w-4424g00 can cover mid bass and mid-s fantastically (that is big range), without complex XO , with very reasonable price. If paired with mentioned tweeter (or many other good tweeters) and decent woofer (anything from 8" to 21" depending on taste, room and spl needs) it can be very very good. Choice of woofers and subs is huge, distorsion in that range matters little, it is really about taste and intended room-application.
Completely different, and not subject of this thread , is question how deep 10cm driver can go:
as said, SF Signum goes exceptionally low for its size, but lacks lowest bottom as no surprise at all. However as is, 8L box, in small room it gives good bass with almost all music. This is obviously not home theater speaker.
What Franco Serblin (or his team at SF) did is tuned box reflex tube much lower than what generic driver-box calculation would suggest. I did the same in "beetlejuice speakers" posted here on forum, and together with room response it works very nice. I admit, this project has much more bulk, but principle is the same.
This tuning creates bass response shelve effect that is not perfect of course, but in real room it's deviations are far less than room reflections.
Here is what I simulated long ago, 15w-4424g00 in 8L, BR tuned at 43 Hz (volume and BR tube dimensions measured from SF Signum):
And this is my measurement of SF Signum, 1m from speaker in small room (12m2):
Please disregard big dips and peaks below 1kHz, that is room response. Small driver really goes well under 50 Hz with such tuning. Ok that's more than 40Hz, I admit.
What Sonus Faber suggests for these speakers is to put them on stands away from back wall, and than tune bass to own taste by moving closer or further from back wall. They obviously have good understanding of room effects. Further they also recommend sub with it, all makes sense.
I underlined beginning of this second part of my post as it is really not subject of this thread, so lets find another one if it has interest.
