BTW, the FF85wk or A5.2/3 (CHN-50) set have woofTs (stands that act as woofers) and i have another document with small woofers (for SF W14).

Just a thought.. use 2 subs in each box or make a separate box for a sub. I am afraid midrange driver will be the soft spot in the box..and sub movement might throw off the midrange. Sub will create air pressure fluctuations. Or is it something not to worry about
Specifically I would suggest 4" fiberglass honeycomb cone (such as Mivoc driver, or Jamo C-series passive, Eve Audio active) with automotive "plast" stretchy tape de-resonance waveguide. Unless you can find outside China 4/4.5/5.5" drum-paper FR variously labelled Hifi-bird/Michael's Audio/isred/MKHIFI which are my favorite whizzerless. Both types have extremely small Vas and deliver clean powerful bass in a compact TLonken (short tapered transmission-line into single-slot port).

The problem going to 3" is the bass extension may be okay, but the sensitivity suffers dramatically. The 4" Peerless SDS is designed as a mini sub, has lower HD than the SLS85, and actually does quite well in a small PR box. There are not boomy, flabby, or loose sounding at all, and sound surprisingly full range enough to stand on their own.
The problem going to 3" is the bass extension may be okay, but the sensitivity suffers dramatically. Price no object, I imagine a two-way with the purifi 4" would be ideal.
Not if it's in-phase and not vibrating the main cabinet. It's not a big deal usually, and if it is, it's often because of harmonic or intermodal distortion affecting higher frequencies. You can always turn the bass down if it's separated.
I have recently took appart my tiny audio system, consisting of two radioshack 3way speakers, good sounding small sub, no idea of make. Small classD amp, which i used with small hd monitor and my, you would not guess, yes, cell phone. This system was designed for cell phone, to provide sound and picture. Surprisingly good. If you are interested, i can investigate what that little subwoofer is. There are no marking on the outside of the box. But it provides decent bass and is quite compact. I can unscrew the woofer and see if there is anything on the magnet.
