BBA3 as Preamp Question

Thank you nash. I made up some XLR connectors as jumpers for the inputs. I'm too cheap to buy a single "U" shaped jumper for $8. Can get 5 male XLRs for $8. I won't lose them as easily.

I haven't had the urge to mess with P3. Maybe in the future.

Thank you 6L6. How much current do you think they need? I want to build it as a Preamp.
It will be my second attempt at a MOSFET type Preamp. The first one years ago was that two transistor balanced one. Which I was a bit disappointed in. I put that down to the input capacitance that reduced HF detail.
Unless you can recommend something else that you think might be better?

I compared the BBA3 circuit with that of BA3 (please see below BBA3 Left, BA 3 Right). I cant find any difference

. So what am I missing?

Please note that the BA3 board at the Diyaudio store (which is the layout in Papa's BA3 article) ( https://diyaudiostore.com/products/ba3-burning-preamplifier ) is for two single-ended channels and one can readily adapt a single board for a balanced channel. So you only need two store boards for two balanced channels.

I can't think of any other BA3 pcbs off hand so you may have to look around...

Have fun.

My mistake. Dennis is correct. The BA-3 preamp board at the diyAudio store (https://diyaudiostore.com/products/ba3-burning-preamplifier) is a stereo board so only two boards are required for the balanced preamp.

If the board is one channel only, which is what I had assumed since a saw a non-diyAudio version of the board when I did a search, then four boards are required for the balanced preamp.

Thanks for some great advise (love this forum). I also read up and understand 'balanced' better now. On the sound signature of the preamp, I found this a bit 'tubey' - adds a lot of body to the music but chooses where to add it! How would others describe the music experience with this pre? Thanks in advance.
