many years ago, Hi-Fi magazine had construction plans for a CONCRETE woofer cabinet. it was an effort to eliminate resonances from the cabinet materials....

good point 😉
built a crappy proto, and now being punished with this rework job

front is sorted, and decided to look at the cabinet back
first step, to make the woofer hole slightly bigger, and improve edge shape
big heavy woofer, and I wanted to support the chassis, taking some load off the screws
working inside a limited space, new circle router tool needed
and then some work with file and sandpaper 😱😀

Now that looks like a woofer.
Phwoar.
Get a 6" driver to cover the mids (>500Hz) and you'll have a killer system there. You could probably get away without, but I like the extra "twang" you can get from a decent mid.

was my plan
but next step might be a mini-dsp 😉
Looks like a tight squeeze - will this be open backed, sealed or ported?
Pictures/sound clips please 🙂

[QUOTE=chris661;2911718 open backed, sealed or ported?
sealed 😉 about 55liter brutto, minus 10liter(driver) = 35-45liter netto

need to consider speaker cable connector
noticed a speakon which also accept a 1/4" jack
but I dont know much about this
btw, theres a really nasty ressonance when talking into cabinet
but if inserting a small bucket into the hole, it disappears
which also ought to happen with the woofer mounted
need to work on front baffle design now
