Bamboo processing

Hello audio enthusiast people of fanatic awesomeness incarnate! or something...

In short:
Just watched this video that shows some of the processes involved in making things from bamboo.

And it made me think... Will not disclose the results of that as I would really like a fresh perspective from someone else, so now I am left wondering:
What are your thoughts?

Because of the thinness of the bamboo as a wood product, it must be laminated to form very thick material. I would be ok with this except for the many gaps in the product. Really wanted to try it out in a build, but the material stopped me dead. Perhaps a higher grade bamboo product would have been better, and I would have not had to worry about the gaps and the way that it is prone to splitting.

That is good news. I didn't want to be soured on something that has potential. Yes, I was using cheaply made cutting boards for a source apparently. The splitting surprised me too, as it did not take much for it to happen.
