I remembered my other question - has someone put the b1-korg in front of an F6? I think I have read nearly all of this thread and don't recall seeing a mention.
Salmon time and harvest time usually coincide around here - the rain came early this year, to many folks dismay, fortunately I covered my crop, - so at the moment I am doing a little harvesting and listening to the F6 with a Schitt Vali2 with a new production Genelex Gold Lion E88CC in it, and must say it makes a tedious task considerably more pleasant 🙂

B1 Korg is , by consensus , fun and useful little gadget
same applies for F6 (even if it's little bigger )
what's there not to like , if you combine them ?

I have a B1K in front of an F5 and it sounds great. Nelson warned me it would even before I started the F5. Since 6 is bigger than 5, I'm sure the F6 would sound at least 1 better. Seriously, it does sound very good with the F5. I don't know the characteristics of the 6 to offer an opinion. But I'm having enough fun with the pair to continue upgrades on both.
So the TKD Pot is on the way. I also ordered a full set of 10 and 1000uF Elna Slimic II caps just to see what happens. I'm also replacing all the internal signal wiring in the B1K and my F5 with Dueland wire. I already built some Dueland interconnects for signal stream. That should keep me out of the bars for a while. Or not.
If you need to go down the "wiper scrubbing" route, TKD is the best.
SILMIC's are great, but too much of a good thing could be bad
Try to obtain pure silver ribbons and then experiment and see if you like them. Once you formed an opinion about silver, annealed it and..... try again and see if you like the sound better.

Yessir, I have the B1 Korg in front of my F6 (my first DIY project driving my third) in my main system and I am very pleased with the sound.
I have it mounted in a remote-controlled stepped attenuator enclosure from (gasp) China - I'm still experimenting with the grounding and filtering for the DC to try and quiet the last bit of hum/hiss (post). But when I remove my ear from the speaker and sit back to listen to some music it sounds great.
Weigh in to what you recommend other than Wiper/Scrubbing please. I have no "need". I'm just experimenting and welcome opinions. If you need to go down the "wiper scrubbing" route, TKD is the best.

What Cap solution would you recommend? Too much of a good thing? I don't have a decoder ring for that one.
I don't think I'm taking this project into the Precious Metal realm quite yet. I really like the Duland sound in other systems so I'm going one place that at least seems familiar. The interconnect are already improving things. Just taking it internal replacing the inexpensive hook-up wire.
Thanks for your input. Please continue! Certainly a lot of different preferences on the Pot question. Whoda thunk?
I've been put off Silver wire after I used some to connect my speakers and the internals on my speakers. I knocked one of the monsters over and bent all banana plugs. A quick temporary substitution from some old solid copper core cable and the whole setup sounded 10 times better. Silver multistrand was like listening to your speaker with a cushion duct taped over it. After that I went for Anti-Cables for a more permanent solution but their prices are getting into silly money these days.
Got some solid copper core gold plated hookup wire with resins insulation on order to komplete the Nutube and replace the ACA signal and speaker wires.

11 Pounds a metre but I find silver can be a bit shrill - or is that Audiophoolery?

what is the max output Vrms of this preamp maintaining a reasonable level of distortion?
If I use it with the MoFo and input with line level 2Vrms what power would-I get at the output?

All your answers are here - http://www.firstwatt.com/pdf/art_diy_nutube_preamp.pdf
Max output is 5v,
5^2=25
25/8= 3.1W if you use a MoFo.
The Whammy is a better solution if you want full output from MoFo. It can easily drive a 24v Mofo to clipping.

could the gain of the nutube be increased by an extra 3-6db without altering the H2 phase and amplitude?

Around here folks say better to have Pot and no money, than money and no Pot!

So you believe it is gold plated? Almost everything you buy from China is fake.

Ok Bassivius I tried that Amtrans. Was not good sounding. Silver is not bad but keep away from flat silver. I have been into Duelund everywhere glad it is all gone from my stereo.

The white capacitors at output are also away now. Use the 10 uf electrolytics. But the the 3 Vdc was there even after the white capacitors where gone.
I wonder 680 mv AC measured over pin 1 and pin 2 and 1 and 3. Looks ok over common ground and the output pins. How come. Should a go for direct connection between common ground and pin 1, and cut the connection from gnd on the Pcb and pin 1?

For a given characteristic, you would need to play with the gain after the
Nutube. Good place to flip polarity while you're at it.
is there any other combination of plate voltage, plate resistor, grid bias that could give the same H2 % and phase for ~8Vrms output ?
I would prefer avoiding another gain stage after the nutube, it could further colour the sound.

Yes. There is a relationship between AC/DC Plate voltage and AC/DC Plate current
for a given distortion figure.
