Aurum Cantus G1 Ribbon vs Faital Pro HF108

Copy the Vapor Arcus : VAPOR ARCUS SPEAKER REVIEW

It uses a Beyma ribbon and an Acoustic Elegance woofer.

After years of playing with different tweeters including Faital Pro HF108 and HF10AK, many CDs from B&C and Beyma AMTs like TPL-150/200H, Ribbon and AMT tweeters from Aurum Cantus such as AST2560 and AST25120 and some dome tweeters from Scanspeak and SEAS, all I can say is that Aurum Cantus G1 Ribbon tweeter is by far the best tweeter I've heard so far. TPL-150H and TPL-200H are also very good-sounding drivers but G1 pose a level of realism one can hear with top-notch products like TAD ET703 or Fostex T500AMKII or plasma tweeters. needless to say that Faital Pro HF10AK is the best compression driver type of tweeter under lets say 1000 bucks I have ever used. it could be compared to much more expensive driver TAD-2001.

G1 can hit 120dB easily. I yet have to do my project of adding a waveguide to G1 to see if I can get more sensitivity to use it on something like a Klipschorn passively. it would be a dream speaker IMO. 🙂

Hello,

I am playing with tweeters and 16cm BC drivers.

What I noticed and what has not been said here is that directivity can help in a non treated room. My room is too reverbant so I am for the time being going towards a more directional tweeter.
At the moment I am playing with 30mm waveguided wavecor tw30a12 tweeters. I was always crossing at 2k or more but looking at the specs I noticed 'range 1.5k-20k' so I said what the hell and tried crossover at 1.8 and 1.6
The lower the better here. More body, more details...less room interaction.

That said I got a pair of small BMS compression on the way and beyma tpl150. But I think it is sad if these guys can't be crossed below 2khz (read on a French forum that tpl150 tend to distord lower 2k)
Maybe also cone breakup can be heard. That I did not believe...
I think an 8" at 2k is not the best thing.

Satori be with waveguide could be good too yes.

Anyway I have to agree with what was read in test bench for the wavecor tw30a12 tweeters
