hello everybody
i have a pair of audiocontrol eqt mono eqs.
after having noise problems i narrowed it down and found that one of them is the cause of the noise.
can anybody guide me what is the problem with it?
thanks

never thought about it.i will try that.Sounds like dirty pots. Douse them in iso and turn them up and down like 50 tim
thanks
Is the noise a constant hiss or something that varies?
One channel or both?
Are the internal ground connections set the same for both EQs?

it,s alternator noise and varies with the engine rpm.Is the noise a constant hiss or something that varies?

it disappears when I remove the eqt .
i don't know what you mean internal ground connections.
do they have switches or something inside?
I think it has either switches or shunts to select the ground. See if you can find the owner's manual for it.
nope the manual says nothing about ground switchesI think it has either switches or shunts to select the ground. See if you can find the owner's manual for it.
it,s isolate at both. What's the resistance between the input RCA shields and the output RCA shields for each EQ?
See attached.
i will change the jumpers to ground to see if it solves the problem.
no matter where i put the switches the noise is the same and the resistance between input and output rca shields is infinite. What's the resistance between the input RCA shields and the output RCA shields for each EQ?
See attached.
should I try to short them to see if something changes?
Measure the resistance between the output RCA shields and the ground terminal of the EQ with the switch in all positions. Post the resistance for each position.
Are the readings the same for both EQs?
Are the readings the same for both EQs?
this one works fine.Measure the resistance between the output RCA shields and the ground terminal of the EQ with the switch in all positions. Post the resistance for each position.
Are the readings the same for both EQs?
200ohms at the 200 ohms position infinite at iso position and 0 at ground position
both eqs the same
Have you taken the board out of the noisy EQ to see if there were any burned traces on the bottom of the board?
problem solved by itself.Have you taken the board out of the noisy EQ to see if there were any burned traces on the bottom of the board?
i believe one the switches had dirt and with the tests it made contact.
i sprayed them and everything is fine now.
by the way the quite position is isolate and not ground.
ps. the inputs are isolated with transformers, that's why rca in and out shileds measure infinite resistance.
thank you for your help.
