Audio Precision APx user forum/ thread?

Hi folks

I own an APx525 ( first gen, SW 4.6 ) and for years, I wanted to have a discussion about pros/cons/tips and tricks for this unit,
I know, tomchr had one ( now on APx555, I think ). Any other APx users out there ? Should we open a dedicated thread
about APx machines ( not AP 2xxx, cause of the total different GUI, sorry ) ?
Also, if one prefers to have a private conversation, would be fine, too.

Greetings from Vienna

Yep. I had the APx525. I think I was able to get to version 5 or 6 of the software with the free hardware dongle (key box) that AP handed out for a while. Now I rock an APx555 (B-series) and version 7.1 of the software.

If your main interest is analog measurements, there's no need to upgrade the software. The main additions are for (smart) speaker measurements, faster measurements, and such. There was a UI update from ver. 7.0 to 7.1 that organized the analyzer settings panel a bit better in bench mode, but I haven't noticed anything major in the software between version 4.6 and 7.1. At least not for the measurements I usually take.

My only beef with the software is that it runs on .NET and the latest .NET update breaks the AP software. So if you update your PC and get stuck with the AP software searching for the hardware ad infinitum, just uninstall update "Microsoft .NET version 4.8.1, KB5011048". Hi all,

Sorry for my late reply, many thanks to you for all infos, I have an old ATS2, just one and last stupid question, What measure do you take in DC apart from the tension! Is it possible to measure harmonics and ripple?

Best all and thanks for your help.

I've got an APx at work, I'd be interested in DIYA-fam's tips and tricks for it.

One of the recent updates, 8.1 maybe? Allowed for toggling between the selected output and open-loop, and that is a nice addition (otherwise changing output path will clear out all results). Otherwise 4.6 or 5.1 (whichever added open-loop) has been mostly fine. I feel like sometimes the windowing in the acoustic measurement sometimes displays phantom wobble down near the windowing cutoff. Some of the rub n buzz stuff in late versions is cool, but hard to correlate to user perception.
