Hi folks
I own an APx525 ( first gen, SW 4.6 ) and for years, I wanted to have a discussion about pros/cons/tips and tricks for this unit,
I know, tomchr had one ( now on APx555, I think ). Any other APx users out there ? Should we open a dedicated thread
about APx machines ( not AP 2xxx, cause of the total different GUI, sorry ) ?
Also, if one prefers to have a private conversation, would be fine, too.
Greetings from Vienna
Gary

I also own the apx515,
If here can share the api and suggestion for testing will great.
Hope here can have more discussion for APx.

I'm also an APX555 owner. Strictly hobby use now that I'm retired. Interested in what others are discovering while scraping the depths of the audio spectrum!
Hi all,
Has anyone ever made DC measurements with an AP bench such as ATS2 and APX515 ? But can these benches of measurement do it?
Best and thanks by advance

There's a LinkedIn AP group, where also some previous employees are active like our owm Audio1man.

Hi Jan, manus thanks to you for your reply, I don't have LinkedIn account, but it seems that possible.

Yep. I had the APx525. I think I was able to get to version 5 or 6 of the software with the free hardware dongle (key box) that AP handed out for a while. Now I rock an APx555 (B-series) and version 7.1 of the software.I know, tomchr had one ( now on APx555, I think )
If your main interest is analog measurements, there's no need to upgrade the software. The main additions are for (smart) speaker measurements, faster measurements, and such. There was a UI update from ver. 7.0 to 7.1 that organized the analyzer settings panel a bit better in bench mode, but I haven't noticed anything major in the software between version 4.6 and 7.1. At least not for the measurements I usually take.
My only beef with the software is that it runs on .NET and the latest .NET update breaks the AP software. So if you update your PC and get stuck with the AP software searching for the hardware ad infinitum, just uninstall update "Microsoft .NET version 4.8.1, KB5011048". More info: https://www.ap.com/blog/apx500-not-functioning-on-your-computer Of course, this could open your PC up to security issues, which is why my AP PC now lives on its own VLAN with no access to the outside world.

I'm falling behind in my apx555 updates... currently on 6.12 with the keybox. The 555 is doing the job for me now but am curious about latest updates. I guess it's time to call Mr. GerrAudio!
Try the DCX-127 good to 500 voltsHas anyone ever made DC measurements with an AP bench such as ATS2 and APX515 ? But can these benches of measurement do it?
I've used the APx525 to measure DC vs time using the Recorder function in the APx500 software. Just set the input to DC coupled, select the number of samples per second, and hit record. Pretty easy...Has anyone ever made DC measurements with an AP bench such as ATS2 and APX515 ? But can these benches of measurement do it?

The APX family will measure VDC, however is has a limit typicall +/- 115 VDC or slightly more depending on model #.
The highest DC voltage I've measured with it was about 3.5 V. I'm pretty sure it was fine... 😉

Hi all,
Sorry for my late reply, many thanks to you for all infos, I have an old ATS2, just one and last stupid question, What measure do you take in DC apart from the tension! Is it possible to measure harmonics and ripple?
Best all and thanks for your help.

I've got an APx at work, I'd be interested in DIYA-fam's tips and tricks for it.
One of the recent updates, 8.1 maybe? Allowed for toggling between the selected output and open-loop, and that is a nice addition (otherwise changing output path will clear out all results). Otherwise 4.6 or 5.1 (whichever added open-loop) has been mostly fine. I feel like sometimes the windowing in the acoustic measurement sometimes displays phantom wobble down near the windowing cutoff. Some of the rub n buzz stuff in late versions is cool, but hard to correlate to user perception.
